Stamp Of The Week – Pure Florals Poinsettia

Hey!

Stamp of the Week is a new feature here at Uniko.

It is one I have been wanting to do for some time & with the results of the recent survey I did it is something 69% of you wanted too. Even though every other month the DT and I revisit a previously released set, there are MANY more clear stamp sets that deserve some LOVE!

So, what is stamp of the week?

Well, each week I will be focusing on a different stamp set on this the Uniko website blog, I will be featuring a variety of cards, tags, projects and hopefully videos. The stamp of the week will be the main focus but I will also be showing how it pairs with other products from Uniko & other reputable companies. Along with all that the featured stamp set will be available in store at a discounted price for that week only.

Wow, we are up to day 3 of my first ‘Stamp of the Week’, this week is flying by for sure! Anyway, I hope you are enjoying this new feature here on the Uniko website blog and I am back today with another card featuring this set…

SOTW3

Today I have gone with more traditional Christmas colours though with a modern edge, the popular trio kraft, white & red. I started out by stamping and embossing the poinsettia in white onto a red circle die cut and mounted it onto a scalloped edge circle die. (These are Papertrey Ink Limitless Layers Dies). I then looped white sating ribbon & overlaid thinner red satin ribbon to peek from either side of the focal image.

SOTW3a

It isn’t normal for me to double mat layer or use so many layers on a card, but with keeping the design layout, colours and stamps used to a minimum you can still achieve a CAS look to your card. It is also very rare that I finish up the inside of my card, very lazy of me really and I was inspired by Deborah from the DT to change this as Deborah ALWAYS finishes the inside of her cards! So today I have…

SOTW3b

I kept it very simple and simply embossed the poinsettia in white on to a kraft CS layer, matted with white and added a simple sentiment stamped in black. I left plenty of room for my own message inside too.

Well that is all I have to share with you for today, I will be back again later in the week with more using this set 🙂 Until then, thank you for stopping by today.

I’m back today with another card using the Pure Florals: Poinsettia clear stamp set. This time I have opted for a non traditional colour scheme for my card…

SOTW2a

I am loving the current trend of gold embossing and decided I wanted to do that on todays card but I didn’t want it paired with traditional Christmas colours. So out cam my Zig Clean Color Brush Pens, a large acrylic block and a mini mister. To create the background I simply coloured my acrylic black with the trio of pens, misted and then applied it straight  onto my watercolour paper.

SOTW2

After leaving it to dry I then gold embossed the poinsettia & my chosen sentiment. I then placed it under a heavy book overnight and flat mounted it onto a white card base.

This would be a really quick & easy, last minute Christmas card idea & you could easily switch the background colours to more traditional ones if desired.

SOTW2b

Ok, that’s all I have to share with you today, but I will be back again tomorrow with more to share using this clear stamp set. I hope you are enjoying the feature here & what I am creating! Don’t forget we have the October DT Blog Hop & GIVEAWAY going on HERE and you could win this set!

Thank you for stopping by today.

It just so happens that Pure Florals: Poinsettia is the stamp set the DT and I are revisiting this month HERE on the other Uniko blog. So you will have TONS of inspiration using this set when the week is out AND you also have the chance to win the set or a Uniko eGift Certificate to the same value. How good is that?

I have to say I have really enjoyed dusting this set off and showing it some love, once I got started the ideas flowed beautifully. Here is todays card…

Class1

I was inspired by the current sketch seen below & HERE over at Freshly Made Sketches, it was simply perfect! I designed the Poinsettia to be large enough to be the focal point of the card but then I didn’t want it to be too large for a card or tag. I also designed it so that it can be fussy cut and layered. The DT have showcased this feature in the October DT Blog Hop HERE perfectly.

FMS207

As you can see I rotated the sketch 90 degrees counter clockwise, I felt it worked better that way for the poinsettia. One of my favourite colouring mediums is my Prismacolor pencils and gamsol blending solution. I first became aware of this from the awesome Jennifer McGuire back in 2008!

Here is a close up of the detail…

SOTW1

I love how the poinsettia really takes the focus of the card and is enhanced by the cut gridlines to create a story board effect. A current growing trend in the paper crafting world.

Ok, that’s all I have to share for today, I will be back again tomorrow with more using Pure Florals: Poinsettia. I do hope you will pop by again and enjoy this new feature here at Uniko.

Uniko Challenge #23

Hey!

Today a new challenge starts over HERE on the Uniko Blog. This month we have another fun challenge for you to try with another optional twist too.

Black & White with an optional twist – splash of colour
You can use any stamps/products to enter the challenge, but we do LOVE to see you use your Uniko goodies and if you do there is an extra chance to win a prize!
Along with the Design Team inspiration, this fortnight we have 2 lovely an awesomely talented Guest Designers joining us, be sure to stop on by their blogs and have a look around at their creations. You won’t be disappointed, I know that for sure.

I went for a über CAS card as I was limited on time to create today…

UC#23

I can’t seem to stop using the new Pure Florals: Cosmos! I don’t think it has left my acrylic block since I was making samples for the release! I opted for the ‘splash’ of colour by stamping the sentiment from Simply Said Birthday in WPlus 9 Cranberry Crush ink.

I used the new CAS(E) this Sketch! sketch seen HERE and below for the layout of my card. I decided to round the lower left corners on both the stamped panel and the base card for an added bit of interest.

CTS_132

I added a small bit of glitter to the centre of the flowers for a bit of sparkle and a little more interest along with adhering the panel using foam adhesive.

UC#23a

Ok, that’s all from me today, be sure to stop by the blog HERE to see all the inspiration and link up your creations. There are prizes to be had too!

Still TIME to join in at TIME OUT Challenges

Hey!

There is still TIME to join in on the challenge over at TIME OUT Challenges & this fortnight we have a theme challenge with an optional twist & there is a prize up for grabs too for the winner of this challenge!

 The theme this time is…
Nature with the optional twist of animals (butterflies & insects can be used)
This time I decided not to twist like my card HERE, instead I decided to use the recently released Pure Florals: Cosmos to create a card for my bestie Kerry as it is her birthday today… HAPPY BIRTHDAY Kerry!

I decided to use a few crafting items that I haven’t used yet, firstly my new purchase of 4 Zig Clean Color Real Brush pens. I bought my favourite trio of colours along with a green and I have to say I am really pleased with my purchase. I’ve not added water to the for this card, I simply did flat colouring and the results are really nice.

I also used my SU! Chalk Talk dies which I have had for a while now. I used the large tag die in the collection to die cut a negative frame into my CS layer and after stamping my partial sentiment from the Pure Florals: Cosmos set I foam mounted it onto my card base. The flowers are fussy cut out and mounted with foam adhesive too.

The photo above shows the sparkle of Wink of Stella I added to the flowers after colouring them. Ok, that’s all from me today but be sure to stop by the guest designer joining us at TIME OUT Challenges, Barb, be sure to stop by Barb’s blog HERE to see how she was inspired by the photo and of course the FABulous TIME OUT Challenges Design Team.

Until my next post, thank you for stopping by today 🙂

July 2015 Reveal, Release & GIVEAWAY!

Hey & SUPER Happy Weekend!

Today is officially release day here at Uniko Studio and hopefully the three sets lining the shelves here at Uniko HQ will take your fancy!

Now grab a drink & let’s get to the fun and see these new clear stamp sets in full…

Garlands Galore £9.95

This is my simple version of a garland or banner building set, complete with finished banners and mini alphabet. I can see myself reaching for elements in this set time & time again.

Home Sweet Home £4.95

Copyright Uniko Ltd 2015

This set needs little introductions as you can see it is a home themed set! With a simple focal house sized at 6.5 x 6.5cm with a variety of mix and match sentiments.

Lastly but my no means least we have the next floral in the Pure Florals series and the first mini set…

Pure Florals: Cosmos £4.95

Copyright Uniko Ltd 2015

Pure Florals: Cosmos, a sweet mini flower building set with some lovely sentiments in a gorgeous modern font mix 🙂 This is a new favourite of mine and you can be sure to see it being used a lot over the coming weeks!!

Now I have done all the formal introductions, how about some projects showcasing these new sets. I wasn’t having a successful creative day yesterday and all my ideas just wouldn’t come out how I wanted them to, so my efforts are lacking compared to those of the DT that you will see!

Anyway, first up is a super CAS card using Pure Florals: Cosmos…

Apologies for my photo too, the sun was so bright yesterday I just couldn’t get a good pic either!!

I started out with a purple piece of CS I think it could be SU! Retired Lavender Lace, I then stamped the Cosmos in VersaMark and heat embossed it with detail white embossing powder. I then used my ‘go to’ Mama Elephant die to die cut the curve and then added a piece of white card to remake the front of the card to the size of the back.

Next I have a card which combines Garlands Galore with Balloon Bash…

I started out by stamping the star garland across my white CS layer, coloured the stars in with At You Spica pens so they have a little sparkle. I stamped the balloon string and added the small bows from Garlands Galore. The balloon is fussy cut out and mounted with foam adhesive and then I finished it off with a sentiment from Pure Florals: Cosmos.

That’s all from me, but as tradition holds we have our release day blog hop, simply visit & comment along the hop by midnight Saturday 18th July, to be in the chance of winning the ENTIRE release! If you have already purchased any or all of the release a refund will be given.

Introducing…Pure Florals: Cosmos

Hey!

Thank you for all your lovely comments yesterday and for joining in on the countdown to the release 🙂 Today the DT and I are introducing the last of the products being released this month, which means tomorrow is release day – YAY!

Anyway, let me remind you of the sneak peek I shared a few days ago…

This has to be my favourite set of the release, I do love florals (which you can probably tell from all the floral sets in the Uniko product line up!) Again this is a flower originally designed back in my Uni days, but has since had a lot of editing and been given new life.

Here is my card to share with you using this set…

I’ve been seeing a lot of colour ‘smooshing’ in blog land over the past few weeks and decided I needed to have a go myself. I used one of my acrylic blocks and coloured it with my favourite trio of SU! markers and spritzed it quite heavily with water before ‘smooshing’ it onto my card base. I had originally planned to have the panel straight, but I dropped the block and it landed at that angle and so I just went with it!

Again the DT have done an outstanding job showcasing this set, so be sure to hop along to each of their blogs and leave them some love too.

June 2015 Design Team Blog Hop, GIVEAWAY & NEWS!

Hey!

I’m SO happy you’ve stopped by the blog today as today is the June 2015 Design Team Blog Hop. Along with the hop and giveaway, I am also sharing lots of NEWS!! So be sure to grab a drink, get comfy, relax and enjoy!

As we’ve quite a few new followers here, (“Hello & Thank you”) I will explain what’s going on! Here at Uniko I currently only release new products every other month. This is for a number of reasons, firstly, being an avid paper crafter myself and knowing the current economic climate I know ‘some’ are on a limited budget when it comes to buying new stash, so this way you’re not tempted to splurge too much every month.

The second reason is that it is just me here at Uniko HQ. I currently run this little business single handedly, designing, blogging, demoing, classes, packing. Alongside that I am a full time mum to 9 month old twin boys! So releasing every other month gives me chance to keep my head above water, well…just about!

So, on the in-between release months the Design Team & I take a look back at a previously released product, dust it off and give it some love! This month I decided to dust off the previously released Pure Florals: Gerbera…

Along with this set being the TOP selling product here at Uniko 😉 I thought it would be nice for some lovely Summer floral cards (though this is the kind of flower that can be used all year round too.

Here are a couple of my ‘old faves’ using the set…

Unfortunately I haven’t had time to create a new project due to reasons below, but I know the DT will make up for my tardiness!

Before I get to the Design Team Blog Hop, I would like to take this opportunity to introduce you to the newest member of the Design Team. I am super honoured and happy to introduce you to…

Jane Taylor from Purplejet Loves Crafts

Now for some AWESOME projects from the Design Team using Pure Florals: Gerbera. The GIVEAWAY… Simply comment along the hop for your chance to win the featured set or a eGift Certificate code to the same value if you already own the set.
