June 2019 Non-Release Design Team Blog Hop & GIVEAWAY!

Hey & Happy Weekend!

Welcome to the June 2019 Non-Release Design Team Blog Hop & GIVEAWAY! Hopefully you have hopped on over from HERE, the beginning of the hop & where I have introduced everything!

So, with Father’s Day just next weekend, I thought it would be useful for some masculine card inspiration! So I set the Design Team & myself the challenge to use the previously released Explosion! Explosion! Additions & Designer Dies Explosion Collection for this months revisited hop!

This collection of Uniko products are perfect for those hard to create masculine cards! The comic book and Pop Art trends are still going strong in the paper crafting world too 😉

As usual we have our GIVEAWAY, so be sure to comment along the hop for your chance to win a £25 eGift Certificate code to spend over on the Uniko website. You have until midnight BST Saturday 15th June 2019 to comment along the hop.

And here’s what I created…

UnikoJuneRevisit1

I was totally inspired by the current sketch challenge over at Freshly Made Sketches seen HERE and below. The rectangle feature of the sketch screamed to have the halftone explosion ‘spotlight’ stamped. AND it looks like great minds think alike, as I wasn’t the only one. Be sure to check out DT Julies card 😉

FMS Final 391-001

I absolutely LOVED the Catherine Pooler ink colours I used for THIS card using the Explosion! collection, that I decided to use them again! I’ve used Rockin’ Red, Suede Shoes and Limoncello.

UnikoJuneRevisit1b

I’ve used Copic Makers Y35, YR09 and YR16 to colour the BAM! and the Happy Father’s Day sentiment is from Simply Said.

That’s all I have to share with you today using this collection of Uniko products, but be sure to visit my awesome Design Team for even more inspiration. Don’t forget to leave some comment love, which will also put you in the chance of winning a £25 eGift Certificate!

March 2019 Non Release Design Team Blog Hop & GIVEAWAY!

Hey & Happy Weekend!

Welcome to the March 2019 Non-Release Design Team Blog Hop & GIVEAWAY!

For those of you who are new around these parts I will explain what this post is all about…

Here at Uniko HQ it is just myself behind the screen, blogging, designing, packaging stamps & orders through the Uniko online shop, customer service and all the things in between. I *usually* release new product every other month for a number of reasons, but mainly so I can keep up with everything!

On non – release months like this month I like to set myself and the Design Team a challenge to look back at a previously released product and give it some more love.

With Spring just around the corner here in the Northern Hemisphere, I thought it would be nice to give some fresh inky love to Spring Botanicals Daffodil, Spring Botanicals Snowdrop and Stencil Bright Butterflies.

As usual we have our GIVEAWAY, so be sure to comment along the hop for your chance to win Spring Botanicals Daffodil and Stencil Bright Butterflies (an alternative prize to the same value will be offered if the winner already owns these). You have until Midnight (GMT) Saturday 16th March 2019 to comment, winner will be announced shortly after.

I’ve created a trio of cards to share with you today using all 3 products and some different techniques on each of them.

First up I have used Spring Botanicals Daffodil

MarchDTbh1

I’d created this scored Basic Grey (Stampin’ Up!) card base probably more than a week ago. I’ve been loving the trend I have been seeing around social media of adding embossed scored lines to cards. After purchasing a new Fiskars mini paper trimmer with interchangeable blades, I had to give it a go!

MarchDTbh1a

I decided to do some partial fussy cutting of the daffodil, which is stamped in VersaMark ink and heat embossed with detail white EP. I used Prismacolor Pencils to colour the daffodil and adhered the panel to the scored card base using foam adhesive. The sentiment is also from Spring Botanicals Daffodil and heat embossed.

Next I thought I would try my hand at some more no line colouring…

MarchDTbh2

This time I used Spring Botanicals Snowdrop. I’ve stamped the snowdrops on to Crumb Cake card using VersaMark ink. I then used my Prismacolor Pencils to colour the image in. Stamping on the kraft card base made it easier to colour the white flowers 😉

MarchDTbh2a

The sentiment is from Spring Botanicals Daffodil and again is heat embossed.

Lastly I was inspired to use the Stencil Bright Butterflies

MarchDTbh3

Earlier in the week I’d seen the sketch from CAS(E) this Sketch! seen HERE and blelow, and thought it would be perfect for some stencilling!

CTS_312

I used my ink daubers to selectively ink the butterflies and flowers and I simply chose some bright Altenew ink colours (Fresh Lemon, Orange Cream, Aqualicious and Rubellite). I then went over the top with Nuvo Moonstone Glimmer Paste – love this stuff! I finished the card off with a sentiment from Simply Said Blocks II.

MarchDTbh3a

That’s all I have to share with you today, but be sure to hop along with the DT and comment for your chance to win 😉

What an inspirational hop, so many new ideas, I hope you all enjoyed it too 🙂

Thanks for joining in on the fun.

Thyroid Awareness Uniko Winner!

Hey!

Did you all enjoy the Thyroid Awareness Month Blog Hop? I sure did and it was a great way of learning and getting to know more about the condition in a fun and creative way. If you missed it and want to catch up on the inspiration shared you can see my original post HERE.

ThyroidBHa

My apologies for taking so long to announce the winner of the Uniko £30 prize package I was offering to one lucky commenter on my post. With the Uniko 7th Birthday & February Release celebrations I was super busy and it slipped my mind. Then at the end of last week I was poorly with a tooth abscess, went to see the dentist and ended up having an extraction the following day. I am really phobic of the dentist, cried like a baby just being examined and then I have to be sedated for any treatment. I am almost recovered, my mouth is still a little sore, but I feel loads better and in less pain!!

Anyway, enough of my sob story! How about that winner, randomly chosen…

Lucy E.

Your butterfly card is
lovely. The Marvelous Mehndi
background panel is so amazing!
I need to look at that stamp set!
Thanks for the inspiration.

Congratulations Lucy! Please email me at bev@uniko.co.uk along with your mailing address and I will get your prize in the mail to you.

Now, as it has taken me SO long to announce the winner I have randomly selected another lucky comment to win a small clear stamp prize…

Sue D

Beautiful sparkly butterfly card. I like how you used paisley too.

Congratulations Sue! Please email me at bev@uniko.co.uk along with your mailing address and I will get your prize in the mail to you.

Thank you to everyone that joined in on the blog hop and for the continued support & interest in Uniko 🙂 Just a little FYI, there is still time to enter my HUGE Giveaway over HERE to win stamps for a year!

Introducing… Passiflora & Designer Dies

Hey!

Welcome to Day 4 of our 7th Birthday & February 2019 Release product introductions. The last three days have been so fun and inspiring. If you have missed any of them you can catch up HEREHERE and HERE.

I’m back again today with my guest designer and the design team to show you LOTS of inspiration! This time we are introducing a new Passiflora Clear Stamp Set & Designer Dies. Hopefully you have hopped on over from the start HERE where I have introduced these 2 new products a little.

How about a closer look at the cards I have made using them…

IntroDay4a

My first card pairs the solid Passion Flower and leaf contained in the set with one of tomorrows introductions, another addition to the Background Block series. I’ve used my MISTI tool to stamp and layer the flower details, apart from the upper stamen of the flower, which is die cut and adhered with foam adhesive.

IntroDay4d

The darker shading on both the flower and the leaves was done by after stamping the image in a lighter shade. I used an ink dauber to apply the darker ink to selected areas of my stamp before stamping. I’ve found that using an ink dauber to apply the ink to the stamp results in a more even blended look. I’ve embossed the pinstripe background in gold, added a sentiment from Simply Said Blocks II and some Nuvo Drops too!

Continuing with the purple colour theme for the Passion Flower I opted for another clean and simple design…

IntroDay4c

Again I used the solid flower from the set (there is an outline flower too), but this time I white heat embossed the circular line detail of the flower and added the swirly foliage detail.

IntroDay4e

I’m loving the trend of embossed scoring lines, so tried my hand at it. It is quite subtle in the photo and more noticeable in real life. The sentiment is from Just Because clear stamp set and again I added my favourite Nuvo Drops!

Lastly it had to be a shaker card (apologies on my iffy photo, I’m still trying to get the hang of my new set up)…

IntroDay4b

There is something about new dies and my *need* to make a shaker card with them 😉 This time I went for some lovely bright pinks for the flowers and you can see that I have used the outline flower inside the shaker part of the card. I’ve also added a small circular detail stamp to the middle of that flower.

IntroDay4f

With the upper most solid flower I have used both of the stamen images, stamping, die cutting and layering them. If you look at some Passiflora flowers and the one I designed my stamp set from, they have a five stem stamen and then a 3 stem stamen. The sentiment is also from the set and again, more Nuvo Drops! I just love these too much! The shaker mix is from Little Things From Lucy’s Cards, Blush mix.

That’s all I have to share today using these products, but I know Ruth our Guest Designer this month along with the Design Team have SO much more to share with you.

Hop on by to see what Ruth has created HERE and this is the order of the hop following Ruth…

Also, don’t forget the enter the HUGE giveaway over HERE to WIN Stamps For A Year! If you need help entering the giveaway as you don’t have a blog or social media to link, send me an email and I will assist you 🙂

Introducing… Background Blocks Graffiti Texture

Hey!

Welcome to Day 3 of our 7th Birthday & February 2019 Release product introductions. The last two days have been so fun and colourful. If you have missed any of them you can catch up HERE and HERE.

I’m back again today with my guest designer and the design team to show you LOTS of inspiration! This time we are introducing a new Background Blocks Graffiti Texture clear stamp Hopefully you have hopped on over from the start HERE where I have introduced these 2 new products a little.

How about a closer look at the cards I have made using it…

IntroDay3a

This stamp to me speaks masculine and the randomness of the design appears as if it would be difficult to achieve a seamless pattern. However, with a tiny bit of masking I was able to stamp the block down one edge of a Smokey Slate card stock base.

IntroDay3d

I added a sentiment from Simply Said Blocks I which is layered with a piece of red card and adhered using foam adhesive. I finished the design with a trio of Nuvo Drops.

For my next card I decided to continue with the masculine theme and the grey colour scheme…

IntroDay3b

For this card I stamped the block in Altenew Silver Slate ink. I then stamped a trio of the stars from Background Builders: Seeing Stars in Aqualicious, Fresh Lemon and Orange Cream added the same sentiment from Simply Said Blocks I and some enamel stars.

IntroDay3e

Lastly I wanted to show how this background block can be used for a feminine card…

IntroDay3c

I was inspired by a couple of my favourite card challenges to create this card. First up the colour combo is from CAS Colours & Sketches seen HERE and below. Then the layout of my card is from Freshly Made Sketches seen HERE and below.

CC&S color307-001

FMS Final 374-001

To make this card I stamped the graffiti block in Rubellite and Pink Diamond ink. I then die cut a two sizes of Sizzix Framelits hearts. The sentiment is from the ‘secret’ clear stamp set being introduced on the 10th 😉

IntroDay3f

Once I had arranged the die cuts how I wanted them, I went in and added some stamped hearts from Flower Power #3. I also added some White Blizzard Nuvo Glitter Drops to the smaller stamped hearts to add a little sparkle.

That’s all I have to share today using these products, but I know Ruth our Guest Designer this month along with the Design Team have SO much more to share with you.

Hop on by to see what Ruth has created HERE and this is the order of the hop following Ruth…

Introducing… BIG & BOLD Happy Clear Stamps & Designer Dies

Welcome to Day 1 of our 7th Birthday & February 2019 Release product introductions.

This is the fun part where myself, my guest designer and the design team get to show you LOTS of inspiration! You get to see all the sneak peeks I shared yesterday in action on cards & projects over the next few days leading up to 11th February, Release Day!

Hopefully you have hopped on over from HERE, where I have introduced todays products a little and all the links to the blog hop.

Okay, now to some inspiration…

IntroB&Bhappy1b

I thought I would start off with this rainbow happy card. Just seeing the rainbow of colours sparks joy and happiness to me!

IntroB&Bhappy1a

This card uses just the BIG & BOLD Happy Designer Dies, I wanted to show how they can be used on their own. Though I have used some favourite colours and products too to make the dies shine!

I started out by masking a rectangle off on my base card. I then used Distress Inks & blended them together to create a nice rainbow that would flow from ‘H’ to ‘Y’. I then trimmed a top layer of white card to fit inside the base card with a slight border around the edge and die cut the ‘happy shadow’ to create a window to see the rainbow of colours.

IntroB&Bhappy1c

This die cut window panel is adhered to the card base using foam adhesive. I then die cut the ‘happy’ word & adhered it direct to my card base inside the window. Hopefully you can see the dimensions of the window & word in the photo above.

The card is finished with lots of yummy Nuvo drops to match the rainbow. I decided to keep the front of the card sentiment free and will add a follow on sentiment inside the card for the occasion it is sent out for.

For my next card I used mainly the clear stamp set…

IntroB&Bhappy2

This is almost a one layer card, it is just the raised ‘Oh’ and ‘Day’ which makes it a two layer card. It is also a little less CAS for me & I nearly didn’t show it here today because of that!

Anyway, I did (sorry if you don’t like it) and here is how I made it. I started out by creating a window mask out of printer paper to lay over my base card & ink blend through. This time I used Distress Oxide inks in Festive Berries, Worn Lipstick, Spiced Marmalade & Fossilised Amber.

IntroB&Bhappy2a

Once my ink blending had dried, I used my MISTI stamping tool to stamp the large happy inside the ink blended shadow & heat embossed with Stardust EP. I stamped the confetti spray around the happy, which I inked up in a trio of the colours I used to ink blend with. I then added a trio of circle accents from the clear stamp set in black and the smaller sentiments. These are stamped & embossed with detail white EP onto black card and adhered using foam adhesive.

I have one last card to share with you today using these products, this time I went back to my usual CAS style…

IntroB&Bhappy3

This one again mainly uses the dies as I was having so much fun with them! I tried my hand at the inlaid die cutting technique and added in colourful stripes for a little more interest. I actually made 2 cards with this technique, but I will share the other one with you on release day!

I started by adhering 1 cm strips of left over coloured card to a thin white piece of card using double sided tape & glue adhesive. I then die cut the word happy. I’ve then created a base card and panel like my first card at the top of the post.

IntroB&Bhappy3a

Before adhering my white card panel to the card base using double sided tape I die cut the happy from this too, setting aside the die cut & the inner pieces aside. The striped die cut is adhered inside the die cut window and then I added the white inner die cuts to fill in the gaps. Added the birthday sentiment and a trio Nuvo Drops to finish.

That’s all I have to share today using these products, but I know Ruth our Guest Designer this month along with the Design Team have SO much more to share with you.

Hop on by to see what Ruth has created HERE.

Also, don’t forget the enter the HUGE giveaway over HERE to WIN Stamps For A Year! If you need help entering the giveaway as you don’t have a blog or social media to link, send me an email and I will assist you 🙂

Thyroid Awareness Month Blog Hop!

Hey & welcome to the next stop on the…

Thyroid Awareness Month Blog Hop

I am delighted to be a part of this wonderful hop organised by the lovely Milka Gubo from Crafty Milka. January is Thyroid Awareness Month. 26 designers from all over the World joined together in this special blog hop which will last from January 5th until January 30th.

The aim of the hop is to support Thyroid Awareness Month and to raise public awareness of the importance of a Thyroid Gland and problems it can cause when not working properly.

We will be sharing our handmade projects featuring butterfly, butterflies and/or blue paisley pattern. Thyroid looks like butterfly and blue paisley patterned ribbon is a new symbol of Thyroid Awareness month, so it was our choice to incorporate these elements in our handmade projects.

46469299_10215769904453095_1090880006231425024_n

I felt this was a blog hop I really wanted to be part of for many reasons. Firstly I was a registered nurse for over 10 years. When I moved to the North East of the UK, I began a new path of looking after surgical patients and one of the surgical patients I looked after were those who had had Thyroid Surgery. I won’t go into detail, but they were a high level observation patient post operation, with many complications to look out for.

My second reason for wanting to take part is because a few of my close friends suffer from thyroid problems. This hop is just a small way of raising awareness and showing a little bit of love to those affected by it.

Here is the card I made to share with you all…

ThyroidBH

I decided to incorporate both the Paisley Pattern and the Butterfly elements, using Uniko’s Marvellous Mehndi and English Country Garden Butterflies clear stamps.

ThyroidBHa

The layout of my card is from the current CAS Colours & Sketches challenge seen HERE and below. The sketch made it easy for me to combine all the colours and elements – love it when this happens!

I used Altenew inks for my shades of blue a the card stock is the new Stampin’ Up! In Colour Blueberry Bushel. I also used Stampin’ Up! Stitched Framelits dies to die cut the 2 sizes of squares.

ThyroidBHb

Thank you so much for stopping by today, I hope I have inspired you with my card. Be sure that you catch up on all the blog hop stops (if you haven’t already) that are listed at the end of this post.

Before I go I have a little GIVEAWAY…

Simply leave a comment on this blog post & I will choose a randomly selected winner to receive a £30 Uniko Prize Package! Winner will be announced the 10th February to give you plenty of time to share this giveaway with your crafty friends 😉

January Non Release Design Team Blog Hop & GIVEAWAY!

Hey & Happy Weekend!

Welcome to the first Non-Release Design Team Blog Hop & GIVEAWAY of 2019 – Whoohoo!!

Just like last January, I have given the Design Team a huge task of choosing to use their favourites from those released in 2018. Thats a total of 23 new clear stamp sets, 2 re-introduced clear stamp set, 14 stencil designs and 2 new designer die collections to choose from!

Even for me that is a tough task, singling out just one product. However, with my newest publication and feature in Making Cards & Papercraft magazine, I was drawn to Wonderful Day. Here’s how I used it…

UnikoJanBH1

Clean & Simple (CAS)  is my go to style and a challenge that enhances that style is a must to join in on. I Just love this weeks sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches seen HERE and below.

FMS Final 370-001

I opted for a one layer card, this makes for easy mailing but also keeps things CAS too. The Wonderful Day clear stamp set has fabulous sentiments, but I decided to use one from Pure Florals: Peony. Once this was stamped I added in the floral detailing reflecting the sketch and added some simple marker colouring for that pop of rainbow. I also added my favourite White Blizzard Nuvo Drops to the centre of the flowers.

UnikoJanBH1a

Before I hand you over to my amazing team, I thought I would share a few photos of snippets from the magazine feature.

MACD-Pack-FB-Instagram-01-2019-1

This is my first feature with this magazine and so they asked for a little bit about me. A lovely write up and always delighted for people to get to know me a little better.

UnikoJanBH5

I think my love of Nuvo Drops came across in this feature and also my love of rainbow and favourite trio of colours 😉 If you want to get your mitts on the magazine it is available in UK leading supermarkets and can also be purchased via this link. You might just want to get a copy as their is a Uniko GIVEAWAY inside too!!

UnikoJanBH2

UnikoJanBH3

Okay, let’s see what the design team favourites are and how they have been inspired to use the products. Be sure to comment along the hop for your chance to win a Uniko £25 eGift Certificate. You have until Midnight (GMT) Saturday 19th January 2019 to comment, winner will be announced Sunday 20th 2019.

Wiebke

WOW! Wasn’t that a fun hop. It certainly looks like all the florals were a BIG hit with the Design Team.

I’d LOVE to know what your favourite product released in 2018 was, be sure to add it to the comments, I might just pick a random winner to win their favourite 😉
Thanks for joining in on the fun.

Introducing… Background Builders: Happy Hexagons & Beautiful

Hey!

Welcome back to day 2 of the August 2018 Release product introductions.

This is the fun part, you now get to see all the sneak peeks in action. The Design Team have worked their socks off and created an abundance of inspiration to share with you over the coming days 🙂

Yesterday myself and the Design Team re-introduced the ‘So Much’ mini clear stamp set HERE, be sure to check out all the inspiration and comment along the hop 😉

Today we are introducing 2 new clear stamp sets, Background Builders: Happy Hexagons & Beautiful. Hopefully you have hopped on from the start HERE, where I have shared a couple of projects using the new stamps.

Now I have some more inspiration to share using Background Builders: Happy Hexagons…

IntroBBhappyhex3

Have you noticed the stamp design in the Background Builders Geometric collection that appears in each set? I’ve used it on this first card, if not! I love the garland style of this stamp and as I want all the sets to work as a collection, apart from the correlation of them being geometrics I wanted something to flow between them and this stamp design works perfectly.

InroBBhappyhex3a

On this first card I started by die cutting a square window mask to stamp the hexagon garland. It is such a fun stamp and with it being long and thin, it can be easily manipulated on a stamping block or in a stamping tool to be curved or made into a wavy design. Again, I used Altenew inks and paired it with a sentiment from Birthday Sentiments.

Next, I was inspired by the current challenge over at Freshly Made Sketches seen HERE and below.

FMS Final 350-001

I used the open hexagon strip stamp across my base card, stamping it in VersaFine Onyx Black ink. I then used my Diamond Press Hexagon Dies (purchased from Crafters Companion) to die cut 2 hexagons, one from Lemon Lime Twist and one from Berry Burst, I just love this colour pairing!

IntroBBhappyhex2

I stamped one of the larger hexagons onto the Lemon Lime Twist die cut and layered it slightly onto the Berry Burst die cut. The sentiment is one of my faves from Simply Said Blocks.

IntroBBhappyhex2a

Lastly, but by no means least I have a card to share with you using Beautiful…

IntroBeautiful2

This is another card from the Uniko Summer Stamping Retreat and I think my favourite! I love the juicy bright colours and added little leaf sprig from a clear stamp set being introduced tomorrow 😉 The sentiment is another of the mix and match options in the set and I have added some Bakers Twine & Nuvo Drops to embellish the sentiment strip.

IntroBeautiful2a

That’s all I have to share with you today using these new clear stamp sets, but I know the Design Team have created even more fabulous inspiration to showcase them, be sure to hop along!

Well, I thoroughly enjoyed that hop and I am all inspired to get inky! I’d love to know your thoughts on these clear stamp sets and which is your favourite of the two, that is if you can decide?! That’s all from myself and the Design Team today, but be sure to come by tomorrow for even more product introductions 🙂

June 2018 Design Team Blog Hop & GIVEAWAY!

Hey!

It’s time for another Uniko Design Team Blog Hop & GIVEAWAY – Whoohoo!!

Usually I choose just one product that was released the previous year or a once favourite that hasn’t seen much air time. However, this time I couldn’t choose between the clear stamps in the Beautiful Blooms range, so I challenged the Uniko DT to use all 3 OR their favourite!

Beautiful Blooms I Clear Stamp Set

Beautiful Blooms I Designer Dies

Beautiful Blooms I can be bought as a clear stamp set and designer die bundle HERE.

Beautiful Blooms II

Beautiful Blooms III

My thinking / reasoning of designing the Beautiful Blooms series was to have some modern blooms that didn’t necessarily reflect a particular flower. They are open for interpretation as to what YOU the stamper believes the flower to represent. I feel this allows for more creativity and individuality to stampers projects.

Now I had to be fair, so I made one card using each of the clear stamps…

First up is Beautiful Blooms I and I decided to use both the clear stamps and matching designer dies. My card is heavily inspired by some of  Jennifer McGuire’s recent makes.

UJuneBH1a

I started by die cutting the largest bloom, largest stem and 2 small leaves from a piece of white card. I then temporarily adhered it to my card base whilst I stamped the coordinating images to the die cuts. I used my MISTI tool to stamp too.

UJuneBH1b

I used Altenew inks to stamp and the sentiment is from Simply Said Blocks II. Once I had completed all my stamping the die cut panel was adhered using foam adhesive.

Next, I decided to have a play with Beautiful Blooms II and created a super CAS card…

UJuneBH2

I started by stamping the outline blooms in Altenew inks, then I ‘off stamped’ the bloom centre details before stamping inside the outline, as I wanted a fairly light shade to the blooms. I then used Lawn Fawn rectangle dies to die cut the layer before adding my sentiment from Just Because. The pane is adhered to a Stampin’ Up! Grey Granite card base using foam adhesive.

UJuneBH2a

Lastly, I dusted off Beautiful Blooms III to create a similar style card to my CC&S card last week HERE.

UJuneBH3

I used my MISTI tool again for this card, because there is quite a bit of masking and layering of stamps. I used Altenew inks again, as they really do take the hard work out of choosing colours to layer! I tried to show a few of the different layering options with the blooms on this card too.

UJuneBH3a
That’s all from me, but lets see how the design team have been inspired to use the products and be sure to comment along the hop for your chance to win your choice from the 3 clear stamp sets being featured. You have until Midnight (GMT) Monday 18th June 2018 to comment.

 Hugs
