Stamp Of The Week – Pure Florals Poinsettia

Hey!

Stamp of the Week is a new feature here at Uniko.

It is one I have been wanting to do for some time & with the results of the recent survey I did it is something 69% of you wanted too. Even though every other month the DT and I revisit a previously released set, there are MANY more clear stamp sets that deserve some LOVE!

So, what is stamp of the week?

Well, each week I will be focusing on a different stamp set on this the Uniko website blog, I will be featuring a variety of cards, tags, projects and hopefully videos. The stamp of the week will be the main focus but I will also be showing how it pairs with other products from Uniko & other reputable companies. Along with all that the featured stamp set will be available in store at a discounted price for that week only.

I’m back today with another card using the Pure Florals: Poinsettia clear stamp set. This time I have opted for a non traditional colour scheme for my card…

I am loving the current trend of gold embossing and decided I wanted to do that on todays card but I didn’t want it paired with traditional Christmas colours. So out cam my Zig Clean Color Brush Pens, a large acrylic block and a mini mister. To create the background I simply coloured my acrylic black with the trio of pens, misted and then applied it straight  onto my watercolour paper.

After leaving it to dry I then gold embossed the poinsettia & my chosen sentiment. I then placed it under a heavy book overnight and flat mounted it onto a white card base.

This would be a really quick & easy, last minute Christmas card idea & you could easily switch the background colours to more traditional ones if desired.

Ok, that’s all I have to share with you today, but I will be back again tomorrow with more to share using this clear stamp set. I hope you are enjoying the feature here & what I am creating! Don’t forget we have the October DT Blog Hop & GIVEAWAY going on HERE and you could win this set!

Thank you for stopping by today.

It just so happens that Pure Florals: Poinsettia is the stamp set the DT and I are revisiting this month HERE on the other Uniko blog. So you will have TONS of inspiration using this set when the week is out AND you also have the chance to win the set or a Uniko eGift Certificate to the same value. How good is that?

I have to say I have really enjoyed dusting this set off and showing it some love, once I got started the ideas flowed beautifully. Here is todays card…

Class1

I was inspired by the current sketch seen below & HERE over at Freshly Made Sketches, it was simply perfect! I designed the Poinsettia to be large enough to be the focal point of the card but then I didn’t want it to be too large for a card or tag. I also designed it so that it can be fussy cut and layered. The DT have showcased this feature in the October DT Blog Hop HERE perfectly.

FMS207

As you can see I rotated the sketch 90 degrees counter clockwise, I felt it worked better that way for the poinsettia. One of my favourite colouring mediums is my Prismacolor pencils and gamsol blending solution. I first became aware of this from the awesome Jennifer McGuire back in 2008!

Here is a close up of the detail…

I love how the poinsettia really takes the focus of the card and is enhanced by the cut gridlines to create a story board effect. A current growing trend in the paper crafting world.

Ok, that’s all I have to share for today, I will be back again tomorrow with more using Pure Florals: Poinsettia. I do hope you will pop by again and enjoy this new feature here at Uniko.

Introducing… Natures Treasures II

Hey!

Welcome back to the last product introduction, here is a little reminder of the Sneak Peek I shared the other day…

So the title of this set kinda gives it away really and you have an idea what’s in store, but it has SO many possibilities and will mix with a variety of previously release Uniko clear stamp sets.

How about a card to show you a little of what this set has in store…

IntroNTII

I decided to use one of the smaller leaves contained in the set along with a section from one of the larger leaves and the largest spiral leaf. I wanted to show how versatile this set is & pair it with one of Uniko’s floral sets, Beautiful Blooms II. The sentiment is from Flower Power #5.

As usual I used a couple of challenges to jump start my creative process! First up is the new CAS(E) this Sketch! layout seen HERE and below. For my colour choice I used the new CAS – Colours & Sketches challenge colours seen HERE and below.

Here is a little close up of the detail…

UC#24c
I stamped and masked the outline flower from Beautiful Blooms II in a selection of VersaMagic colours onto an angled panel of white CS, this panel is adhered to a Soft Stone CS base. I then stamped a single flower and duo of leaves and fussy cut them out and adhered them to the corner of the angled panel using foam adhesive. The sentiment is from A Gift For You.

Uniko Sponsors Freshly Made Sketches 200th Sketch Challenge!

Hey & Happy Wednesday!

Today Uniko is celebrating along with the Freshly Made Sketches Challenge, as they have reached an awesome milestone with their 200th sketch! Normally their challenge is sponsor free, but as it is a special occasion they have asked a few companies to sponsor and offer prizes to the winners.

As you know I love playing along with their challenge, so when Jennifer Timko emailed me and asked if Uniko would sponsor I was honoured. Before I get to the prize Uniko is offering how about a look at the sketch & some samples from me & some of the DT…

Such a simple sketch with so many possibilities, this is what I came up with…

I don’t normally buy the kits from the SU! catalogue or anywhere really, but in the new one they have a few which come with nice objects like the Tin of Cards kit which has a gorgeous striped tin & filing system to keep your cards in and I couldn’t resist the Hello Life Simply Created Kit either as it comes with a wire frame to hang on the wall and clip creations & inspiration to. Anything to make the new studio pretty 🙂 More on these & a look see another day!

Anyway, the reason I have waffled on is because I have used a few elements from both the kits on my card! From the Tin of Cards I cut into one of the note cards which has a diagonal stripe to it in Bermuda Bay, I then die cut the scalloped edge using my Mama Elephant dies. I then tied some Basic Black Bakers Twine around, securing with a bow also from the kit. This is adhered to the card base using foam adhesive.

I then stamped the outline bloom & leaves from Beautiful Blooms II & fussy cut them out, adhering them with DST. To finish the card off I added the sentiment from A Gift For You and 3 little die cut hearts from the Hello Life Simply Created Kit.
A few of the DT were able to join in on the fun & created a project using the sketch, be sure to pop by their blogs for a closer look and inspiration…

That’s all from me today, but I will be back later this evening to announce the August Blog Hop Winner & tomorrow with a TIME OUT Challenge card.

Peachy Pink Watercolour Bloom

Hey & Happy Weekend!

This morning I am at The Paperlane running a class, it’s lovely to catch up with my local customers once a month, being creative & getting some me time! Today we are doing a mixture of Christmas (Yep, I said the C word!) cards and floral cards. Adding in some watercolours and smooshing!

The card I am sharing today is one of the cards the class will be making…

I am still practising and getting to grips with my Zig Clean Color Brush pens, but I am thoroughly enjoying the process. I only have 4 colours of the pens, but it is amazing the spectrum of colours you can achieve with just those.

I was making my samples for the class kits and saw the new CAS(E) this Sketch! layout seen HERE and below and knew I had to make a card for the challenge, so I incorporated it into my class prep!

I started out by stamping the bloom from Beautiful Blooms II in VersaMark ink and heat embossing it with detail white embossing powder onto smooth WC card. I then set about using just 2 colours of the Zig pens Dark Pink and Yellow to colour the bloom, achieving a lovely peachy pink spectrum. This then determined the card stock base colour (Papertrey Ink Melon Berry).

In the not too distant past if I was following this sketch I would have reached for Bakers Twine or ribbon for the line above the sentiment. But as the current trend is to use a die to create a break in the mat layer panel, I reached for my current favourite the Mama Elephant curved die!

That’s all from me today, I will be sharing another of the class cards later next week. Until the next time thank you for stopping by today.
