I Thank My Lucky Stars…

Hello & Happy Monday!

Today I am delighted to be introducing you to the newest member of the Design Team. I am sure that this person will not be a stranger to the majority of Uniko followers and to those who join in on the Uniko and many of the challenges around blog land!

So without further ado I would like you all to give Carol from justme: c a warm welcome 🙂

Hello, I’m Carol from *justme: c*.  I’m incredibly honoured and delighted to be joining Bev and her talented designers as a new member of the design team. Indeed, my feet haven’t touched the ground since receiving her invitation; still on Cloud 9 at this dream-come true opportunity to showcase, even more, my love for Uniko products.

My card-making journey began when I decided to make and send Happy *Month Old* cards to my niece, who was 2 ½ at the time. She’s now 7, my nephew is 5 – and yes, the monthly card ‘tradition’ continues. The ‘epic messes’ of my first attempts sent me searching the internet for ideas and WOW! Did I find them! The discoveries revealed sparked a passion, and here I am, thoroughly immersed in playing with paper, stamps, dies and ink. Of course, the friendships made through this warm, encouraging community are treasured immensely; the inspiration from the many artists I’ve come to know, appreciated deeply.

My style is predominately CAS (although eclectic is more apt) and oh, how I love my stamps and dies. I’ve recently embarked on coloured pencil online classes; hopefully, what I learn in these lessons will translate into breathing colourful, vibrant life into my Uniko stamps.

When I’m not crafting, you’re most likely to find me at our province’s road bike and cyclo-cross races – clipboard and stop watch in hand – in my role as a racing official.  Even though I don’t race (no way!), I love the thrill of the competitions and being part of the cycling community.

Thank you, Bev and the team, for your warm welcome and for embracing my creativity. I’m looking forward to creating and designing alongside you.

If you are unfamiliar with Carol’s style, here are a selection of cards Carol has made to inspire you using a variety of Uniko clear stamps…

This card features Originally Organic and matching dies and I am just digging the watercolour brush background on this card.

How about a fabulous masculine creation to inspire you?! This card uses Explosion! Explosion Additions and Background Blocks: Halftone.

I thought I would make a card for the occasion too and this is what I came up with…

I decided to create a different kind of welcome card for Carol, I love Carol’s sparkle and shine she leaves with her enthusiasm, support and kind words, not just for me but around blog land. I am truly thankful to have Carol joining the Uniko Design Team.

I was inspired by the current Freshly Made Sketches sketch, seen HERE and below for my card. I had so many ideas for this sketch, but settled upon using the recently released Reach For The Stars clear stamp set.

FMS Final 305-001

I kept the design very CAS, as I wanted the sentiment to take full centre stage. I heat embossed the gold ‘stars’ sentiment and trio of stars to the diagonal corners. I added some Stampin’ Up! glitter card to emphasise the sparkle too.

Not only is this card for Carol, but for all of my Design Team Members current and Alumni, in that I thank my lucky stars for all of them. Plus, for all of the people, customers, friends I have made since starting this little business. With out YOU all, my dream wouldn’t be here and where it is today.

Thank you & welcome Carol 🙂

Hugs

Un Accueil Chaleureux (A Warm Welcome)…

Hello & Happy Weekend!

Today I am delighted to be introducing you to the newest member of the Design Team. I am sure that this person will not be a stranger to the majority of Uniko followers and to those who join in on the Uniko and “Less is More” Challenges!

So without further ado I would like you all to give Izzy from Izzy Scrap a warm welcome 🙂

Hi, I’m Izzy. For those who already know me, you know how much I love the Uniko stamps so when I received Bev’s email asking me if I’d like to join the DT, I was just over the moon and I am still now. I’m so proud and so very delighted to be joining the wonderful and creative Uniko Design Team. I live in Le Mans in France with my amazing lovely hubby and our two teenagers (16 and 13) plus our two cats. They are my first fervent supporters (the cats too !). I bought my first crafting supplies (1 rubber stamp, 3 embossing pens and 1 embossing powder, using my halogen lamp to heat emboss !) about 20 years ago to make my own Christmas cards ! But I really started to craft in 2010 when we were abroad. I started with scrapbooking but I rapidly switched to cards. When we came back to France, my husband and children urged me to make my own blog, that’s what I did in May 2016. Since then I enjoy making cards and visiting blogs where I find my inspiration. I’d like to think that my style is rather CAS and I try to find my own style. I’m so happy to belong to this community so rich of wonderful people, full of artists and I’m very thankful to be part of it. It’s a nice way to meet new friends and it’s a great experience !

If you are unfamiliar with Izzy’s style, here are a trio of cards Izzy has made to inspire you using a variety of Uniko clear stamps…

Background Blocks – Horizontal Stripe & Fun Flowers

Pure Florals: Gerbera (Back In Stock Tuesday) and Happy Succulents

Pure Florals: Poinsettia & Background Builders: Christmas (Retired, but may make a reappearance this upcoming festive season!)

How fabulous are these? I am sure you’ll be as excited as myself to have Izzy part of the team and are looking forward to seeing the inspiration she has to offer. For more details on these creations and to see more of Izzy’s work be sure to head on over HERE.

I thought I would make a card for the occasion too and this is what I came up with…

Welcome1Having seen one of the cards Izzy made, I was inspired to ink up Fun Flowers. I was also inspired by the current CAS(E) this Sketch! sketch seen HERE and below, specifically Hannelie’s card HERE too.

CTS_235

To stamp the stripes I used both the ‘official’ side of the line stamp from Background Builders: Squared and the ‘unofficial’ reverse side of the stamp to achieve a thicker line. The ‘welcome’ sentiment is from Sweet Baby and I accentuated the flower with some Stampin’ Up! Enamel Dots.Welcome1aI also used the colours from this weeks CAS C0lours & Sketches challenge seen HERE and below.

Thank you & welcome Izzy
