July 2019 Reveal, Design Team Blog Hop & GIVEAWAY!

Hey!

What an awesome week with so much creative inspiration. I hope you have all enjoyed it as much as me and now finally the day has arrived and the July 2019 Reveal, Blog Hop & GIVEAWAY is here! The Release will be available to purchase HERE at a NEW time of 9pm GMT tonight.

Hopefully you have started over HERE on the Uniko blogspot blog for the reveal of all the July 2019 Release products and then you have hopped on over from our fabulous Guest Designer this month Keren’s blog HERE. Haven’t Keren’s creations been amazing, with so many creative ideas and techniques. I for one have been inspired.

Okay, so I’m a little late (again) with my post today. I found working in the heat *so* hard yesterday and it just drained me off everything. Anyway, I managed to finish up my cards this morning and now I have them ready to share with you. Hopefully they won’t disappoint!

I’ve been on a rainbow kick recently and I had to apply it to the Background Blocks Nautical Stripes. I also wanted to show you how the background block can be used for other occasions, not just nautical styles.

July19release1

I positioned the background block into my small MISTI, masking, inking and stamping each of the colours. It was a fairly lengthy process to apply each individual colour, but the result is so pretty. I used Altenew inks for the colours and I used the Lawn Fawn stamp shammy to clean the stamp between colours without removing it from my MISTI.

July19release1a

I added the ‘Have a Perfect Day’ sentiment from Sentiments Outlined and a tropical cluster of images from Paradise. To finish the design and add a little sparkle, I applied White Blizzard Nuvo Drops to the inside of the sentiment.

Still on my rainbow kick I used some of the same colours and my TE Blender Brushes to create an ink blended background for the Large Background Tropical Paradise…

July19release2

I absolutely love how this turned out! The colours really make the tropical background pop. I didn’t want to take too much focus from the colours and the background, so I added a simple sentiment of ‘Celebrate’ which is partially stamped from Sentiments Outlined. It really makes you feel as though you are getting value for money when you can easily change up sentiments with ease.

July19release2a

Lastly for today I have one more card that had been whirling around my head! I had intended it to be rainbow colours too, but a more muted colour scheme happened instead!

July19release3

I thought the ‘Celebrate In Style’ sentiment would be perfect to pair with Background Blocks Mid Century Modern and I was right, it looks so cool!

July19release3a

I stamped the sentiment first and then filled in the space around with the background block. With its open style, it is fairly easy to position and stamp to achieve the look of an all over pattern. I used Altenew Cloudy Night for the pattern and added Stampin’ Up! Balmy Blue for the card base & inside the sentiment. Some Altenew enamel dots were the perfect shade of blue to add to some of the dots in the design.

Okay, that’s all from me today, but as usual we have our traditional Design Team Blog Hop & Giveaway. To be in the chance of winning The ENTIRE July 2019 Release! (5 clear stamp sets, 1 previously released clear stamp sets and 5 stencil designs).

Simply comment along the blog hop, it’s as easy as that! You have until Midnight 3rd August 2019. Winner will be announced a few days after.

Happy Hopping!

Uniko Challenge #48 – Inspired By a Quote with Optional Twist

Hey!

Apologies for the long absence in blogging over here on the website blog 🙁  After all the paper crafting shows in May & June, the releases and life in general, I think I burnt myself out a little and lost my mojo. Life with The Beans got a little hectic too and then the Summer Holidays began & they finished their first year at nursery!

Anyway, enough of that!

I am here to tell you about the current Uniko Challenge HEREJuly-2

This month we have chosen an inspirational quote, “It’s so much more friendly with two”. A.A. Milne, with an optional twist of making a card for a child.

From the initial outlook it seems quite challenging, but with a little thinking and picking out words in the quote like ‘two’ or ‘friendly’ there are more inspirational possibilities. Here is how I was inspired…

USC#48

The words ‘two’ and ‘friendly’ finally jumped out at me and inspired  me to make this card! With Background Blocks Wonky Stripes coming back in stock recently, it inspired me to ink mine up.

USC#48a

When my mojo is running low I have a ‘go to’ colour combo, and so I turned to that for this card. I think the wonky stripes look FAB in this combo and the added duo of loopy blooms from Kindness Blooms are the perfect touch.

USC#48b

I used Copic Markers to colour the wonky stripes in after stamping & heat embossing them. I added Nuvo Drops in Dandelion Yellow to the bloom centres and a ‘Hello Friend’ sentiment from Simply Said.

That’s all from me, but be sure to check out Trina’s blog My Crafting ClosetHERE and HERE. Trina is our wonderful Guest Designer for this challenge and has created beautiful cards to inspire you, as has the Uniko Design Team 🙂 All the details and link up for the challenge can be found HERE.

I will be back later this week with more to share, as we start the countdown to the August Release – woohoo! Until then, thank you for stopping by & hanging on in there with me 🙂

Un Accueil Chaleureux (A Warm Welcome)…

Hello & Happy Weekend!

Today I am delighted to be introducing you to the newest member of the Design Team. I am sure that this person will not be a stranger to the majority of Uniko followers and to those who join in on the Uniko and “Less is More” Challenges!

So without further ado I would like you all to give Izzy from Izzy Scrap a warm welcome 🙂

Hi, I’m Izzy. For those who already know me, you know how much I love the Uniko stamps so when I received Bev’s email asking me if I’d like to join the DT, I was just over the moon and I am still now. I’m so proud and so very delighted to be joining the wonderful and creative Uniko Design Team. I live in Le Mans in France with my amazing lovely hubby and our two teenagers (16 and 13) plus our two cats. They are my first fervent supporters (the cats too !). I bought my first crafting supplies (1 rubber stamp, 3 embossing pens and 1 embossing powder, using my halogen lamp to heat emboss !) about 20 years ago to make my own Christmas cards ! But I really started to craft in 2010 when we were abroad. I started with scrapbooking but I rapidly switched to cards. When we came back to France, my husband and children urged me to make my own blog, that’s what I did in May 2016. Since then I enjoy making cards and visiting blogs where I find my inspiration. I’d like to think that my style is rather CAS and I try to find my own style. I’m so happy to belong to this community so rich of wonderful people, full of artists and I’m very thankful to be part of it. It’s a nice way to meet new friends and it’s a great experience !

If you are unfamiliar with Izzy’s style, here are a trio of cards Izzy has made to inspire you using a variety of Uniko clear stamps…

Background Blocks – Horizontal Stripe & Fun Flowers

Pure Florals: Gerbera (Back In Stock Tuesday) and Happy Succulents

Pure Florals: Poinsettia & Background Builders: Christmas (Retired, but may make a reappearance this upcoming festive season!)

How fabulous are these? I am sure you’ll be as excited as myself to have Izzy part of the team and are looking forward to seeing the inspiration she has to offer. For more details on these creations and to see more of Izzy’s work be sure to head on over HERE.

I thought I would make a card for the occasion too and this is what I came up with…

Welcome1Having seen one of the cards Izzy made, I was inspired to ink up Fun Flowers. I was also inspired by the current CAS(E) this Sketch! sketch seen HERE and below, specifically Hannelie’s card HERE too.

CTS_235

To stamp the stripes I used both the ‘official’ side of the line stamp from Background Builders: Squared and the ‘unofficial’ reverse side of the stamp to achieve a thicker line. The ‘welcome’ sentiment is from Sweet Baby and I accentuated the flower with some Stampin’ Up! Enamel Dots.Welcome1aI also used the colours from this weeks CAS C0lours & Sketches challenge seen HERE and below.

Thank you & welcome Izzy

a BIG Thank You & Farewell…

Hey!

It’s another of those posts that I find hard to write and put all my feelings into. It is with sadness that  we at Uniko are saying farewell to another of our FABulous Design Team members Sarah Gray from Funky Fossil Designs.

Sarah has been a member of the Uniko DT since March 2015. For over 2 years I have had the honour and pleasure of having Sarah as part of the Uniko family. It seems longer than 2 years as before Sarah was a member of the DT, she was a regular customer too! Seeing the inspiration and creativity flow when Sarah works her magic with Uniko products is simply amazing.
A BIG thank you will never be enough to resonate my gratitude for all that Sarah has done for me and Uniko, she has truly been an inspiration to me and I am sure to all the Uniko customers old and new alike.

Over HERE is the start of the farewell hop & I have also shared a small selection of my favourite cards Sarah has made  whilst being on the DT. This was SO hard as I love each and every one that Sarah has made!!

So, we couldn’t let Sarah leave without giving her a little farewell send off, so the Design Team & I each made a card to share. This is what I have created…

FarewellSarahG

{Click Photo For a Closer Look}

I opted for one of the Pure Florals: Gerbera flowers, as Sarah’s use of this clear stamp set WOWs me every time and decided to go ‘Rainbow’ style too and give my new Faber-Castell Polychromos another use!

FarewellSarahGa

{Click Photo For a Closer Look}

I’ve kept the design of my card pretty simple, using just the Background Blocks: Horizontal Stripe (vertically). I stamped it in Altenew Limestone ink, to let the colourful Gerbera take centre stage. I was wanting to add the ‘perfect’ thanks sentiment, but I really need to design the ‘perfect’ thank you set 😉 Instead I opted for a sentiment from Originally Organic Additions. I chose this particular sentiment as Sarah is a blessing and a wonderful friend.

I’m going to enter this in to the challenge over at AAA Cards too, as their current challenge HERE is rainbow.

That’s all I have to share creatively today, but be sure to follow the links below to see what the Design Team created.

Stamp Of The Week – Rustic Christmas

Hey!

Welcome back, this week I have chosen Rustic Christmas as my SOTW…

RusticChristmasPP

I’m certainly getting into the Christmas spirit and I am really looking forward to the BIG day this year. The beans are going to love it and understand a little bit more and I am sure they will LOVE the presents Santa brings them 😉

Anyway, here is my card for today…

2016SOTW91

{click photo for a closer view}

A classic Christmas Tree card! I’m loving bold stripes at the moment and the papers in the Stampin’ Up! Pop Of Pink DSP collection is a fave of mine at the moment. I am also ‘making’ myself use them instead of just admiring them on the shelf!

{click photo for a closer view}

I added some Papertrey Ink Pure Poppy Satin Ribbon, a bow of SU! Bakers Twine and a few ‘very old’ A Muse star gems! A little more to this card than yesterdays card HERE but still fairly mass produceable but more suitable for the hand delivered cards.

That’s all I have to share today, I will be back tomorrow with more using this set. Don’t forget that the set is discounted HERE for this week only.

Until tomorrow, thanks for stopping by 🙂

Stamp Of The Week – Flower Power #2

Hey!

Welcome back to the NEW feature here at Uniko, Stamp Of The Week (SOTW). This week I am dusting off… Flower Power #2

Clear Stamps

This set is one of my all time favourite flowers, it is originally based on a cherry blossom. The set has recently come back in stock and so I decided I would dust it off and give it some more love.

This is how I decided to use it today…

2016SOTW61

As usual I was inspired by a couple of challenges! First up my colour combination is from the new ColourQ challenge colours seen HERE and below.

348

I recently purchased some Clarity Stencil Brushes, as I have heard and seen so many great reviews on them. I’ve been wanting to get into and better at ink blending and use the stencils I own that have been sitting on my shelf for an age!

In the past I have used the sponges and applicator tools, but seem to get hard line/ink areas where I haven’t worked the blending in properly from the edges. I am impatient and gave up!

This card is only my second attempt at using the brushes and I am already happier with my results. My first attempt card using them can be seen HERE.

2016SOTW61a

I used a mixture of SU! inks for the yellow/orange flowers and a mix of Distress Ink and SU! ink for the turquoise flower. After blending the inks on some scrap pieces of card I heat embossed the outline flower using detail white and fussy cut them out. The leaves are a blend of SU! green inks and then I used Certainly Celery to stamp the stem and leaves, fussy cutting just so the leaves remained.

As the current “Less is More” challenge HERE is to use a stencil, I finally put my SU! one to use! I masked off the stencil leaving just 3 lines. I then used SU! Night Of Navy to apply the colour, making sure I applied the ink from the left side to make it darker and fade the ink across to the right. I still need plenty of practice, but overall I am happier with the results using the brushes.

Ok, that’s all from me tonight, I have had a busy day with the beans visiting a new play area and as much as it wore them out, it has done the same to me! I will be back tomorrow with more to share. Don’t forget that this set is discounted HERE on the website this week.

Thanks for stopping by 🙂

Stamp Of The Week – Beautiful Blooms II

Hey!

Welcome back to the NEW feature here at Uniko, Stamp Of The Week (SOTW). This week I am dusting off… Beautiful Blooms II

BeautifulBloomsIIPP

This is my card today…

2016SOTW34

I was inspired by the new Freshly Made Sketches sketch seen HERE and below for the layout of my card.

FMS Final 225-001

I decided to look through my NBUS stash pile and was looking for something a little different to use. I came across a gold die cut which looked fun to create the panel. Instead of using the panel I decided to use the negative stripes and I am rather pleased how it turned out 🙂

2016SOTW34a

I still had some pink CS left on my desk from another card I am sharing tomorrow and so that helped me with my colour scheme. I added some Wink Of Stella to the white areas on the stamped bloom and leaves and adhered the bloom to the card using foam adhesive.

Super quick and simple again tonight, so that’s all from me today using this set, but I will be back tomorrow with more to share. Don’t forget that this set is discounted in store HERE this week too.

Until tomorrow, thank you for stopping by today.

TIME OUT Challenges – Home Sweet Home

Hey!

Today is the start of the next fortnightly challenge over at TIME OUT Challenges and this time it is a Home Sweet Home challenge inspired by this photo below…

A lovely nautical themed inspiration photo which lead to this creation below, as you can see I went with the nautical theme & was inspired heavily by all the stripes!!

I started out by using the reverse of one of my background builder stamps to stamp the wide stripes on the base card in VersaMagic Ocean Depth ink. I love the fluffy edges it created which I think has a ocean like feel to them. The boat is stamped in VersaFine Onyx Black and I masked each sail separately to stamp the red stripes using the line stamp from Background Builders: Squared.

Before adhering the boat onto the card using foam adhesive, I stamped & embossed the sentiment in detail white embossing powder staggered/stepped on the stripes to add a little more interest.

That’s all from me today & unfortunately this will be my last fortnight here at TIME OUT Challenges as a DT member 🙁 I took the tough decision to step down from the team to concentrate my extra TIME here at Uniko. I’m sure you will see me playing along with the challenges though from time to time 😉

Anyway, this fortnight we have a lovely guest designer joining us, Anni, be sure to stop by Anni’s blog HERE to see how she was inspired by the photo and of course the FABulous TIME OUT Challenges Design Team.

For all the info and to link up your challenge be sure to stop by the TIME OUT Challenges blog. I look forward to seeing your creations 🙂 I’ll be back again later in the week with more to share & until then, thank you for stopping by today.
