TIME OUT Challenges – Home Sweet Home

Hey!

Today is the start of the next fortnightly challenge over at TIME OUT Challenges and this time it is a Home Sweet Home challenge inspired by this photo below…

A lovely nautical themed inspiration photo which lead to this creation below, as you can see I went with the nautical theme & was inspired heavily by all the stripes!!

I started out by using the reverse of one of my background builder stamps to stamp the wide stripes on the base card in VersaMagic Ocean Depth ink. I love the fluffy edges it created which I think has a ocean like feel to them. The boat is stamped in VersaFine Onyx Black and I masked each sail separately to stamp the red stripes using the line stamp from Background Builders: Squared.

Before adhering the boat onto the card using foam adhesive, I stamped & embossed the sentiment in detail white embossing powder staggered/stepped on the stripes to add a little more interest.

That’s all from me today & unfortunately this will be my last fortnight here at TIME OUT Challenges as a DT member 🙁 I took the tough decision to step down from the team to concentrate my extra TIME here at Uniko. I’m sure you will see me playing along with the challenges though from time to time 😉

Anyway, this fortnight we have a lovely guest designer joining us, Anni, be sure to stop by Anni’s blog HERE to see how she was inspired by the photo and of course the FABulous TIME OUT Challenges Design Team.

For all the info and to link up your challenge be sure to stop by the TIME OUT Challenges blog. I look forward to seeing your creations 🙂 I’ll be back again later in the week with more to share & until then, thank you for stopping by today.

Uniko Sponsors Freshly Made Sketches 200th Sketch Challenge!

Hey & Happy Wednesday!

Today Uniko is celebrating along with the Freshly Made Sketches Challenge, as they have reached an awesome milestone with their 200th sketch! Normally their challenge is sponsor free, but as it is a special occasion they have asked a few companies to sponsor and offer prizes to the winners.

As you know I love playing along with their challenge, so when Jennifer Timko emailed me and asked if Uniko would sponsor I was honoured. Before I get to the prize Uniko is offering how about a look at the sketch & some samples from me & some of the DT…

Such a simple sketch with so many possibilities, this is what I came up with…

I don’t normally buy the kits from the SU! catalogue or anywhere really, but in the new one they have a few which come with nice objects like the Tin of Cards kit which has a gorgeous striped tin & filing system to keep your cards in and I couldn’t resist the Hello Life Simply Created Kit either as it comes with a wire frame to hang on the wall and clip creations & inspiration to. Anything to make the new studio pretty 🙂 More on these & a look see another day!

Anyway, the reason I have waffled on is because I have used a few elements from both the kits on my card! From the Tin of Cards I cut into one of the note cards which has a diagonal stripe to it in Bermuda Bay, I then die cut the scalloped edge using my Mama Elephant dies. I then tied some Basic Black Bakers Twine around, securing with a bow also from the kit. This is adhered to the card base using foam adhesive.

I then stamped the outline bloom & leaves from Beautiful Blooms II & fussy cut them out, adhering them with DST. To finish the card off I added the sentiment from A Gift For You and 3 little die cut hearts from the Hello Life Simply Created Kit.
A few of the DT were able to join in on the fun & created a project using the sketch, be sure to pop by their blogs for a closer look and inspiration…

That’s all from me today, but I will be back later this evening to announce the August Blog Hop Winner & tomorrow with a TIME OUT Challenge card.

August 2015 Design Team Blog Hop, GIVEAWAY!

Hey!

I’m SO happy you’ve stopped by the blog today as today is the August 2015 Design Team Blog Hop. Along with the hop and GIVEAWAY! So be sure to grab a drink, get comfy, relax and enjoy!

As we’ve quite a few new followers here, (“Hello & Thank you”) I will explain what’s going on! Here at Uniko I *USUALLY* only release new products every other month. Keep your eyes peeled this week for a NEW set of dies lining the shelf this week at Uniko HQ!! This is for a number of reasons, firstly, being an avid paper crafter myself and knowing the current economic climate I know ‘some’ are on a limited budget when it comes to buying new stash, so this way you’re not tempted to splurge too much every month.

The second reason is that it is just me here at Uniko HQ. I currently run this little business single handedly, designing, blogging, demoing, classes, packing. Alongside that I am a full time mum to 11  month old twin boys! So releasing every other month gives me chance to keep my head above water, well…just about!

So, on the in-between release months the Design Team & I take a look back at a previously released product, dust it off and give it some love! This month I decided to dust off TWO products, the previously released Beautiful Blooms I and II…

I chose these two sets as it’s Summer here (well, it’s supposed to be Summer!) and I do love a flower or two. When I released both these sets HERE and HERE they were firm favourites and hardly left my desk. Though I still LOVE them I don’t always reach for them so it was time to give them some more love.

As always I like to share a couple of my ‘old faves’ using the sets…

And here are a couple of new projects using them…

I started out with Beautiful Blooms I, vellum and detail white embossing powder. I simply stamped the blooms in VersaMark ink before heat embossing them white. I then used the matching Designer Dies to cut them out (these will be back in stock soon) before adhering them to a Melon Mambo card base. The sentiment from Simply Said Birthday is also heat embossed gold. I also added a few gold gems to finish the card off.

The current challenge over at “Just Us Girls”HERE is a Trend Week, the trend being vellum, so I thought I’d link it up there too 😉

Next I have a card I made for Saturday’s class at The Paperlane. It’s another card coloured with the Zig Clean Color Brush Pens…

I’m still getting to grips with the pens, but I am rather liking the results and how ‘easy’ they are to use. I especially like the spectrum of colours & shading you can achieve with just a few pens.

That’s all I had time to create, but now for some AWESOME projects from the Design Team using Beautiful Blooms I & or II.

Don’t forget the GIVEAWAY… Simply comment along the hop for your chance to win the featured sets or a eGift Certificate code to the same value if you already own them.

Peachy Pink Watercolour Bloom

Hey & Happy Weekend!

This morning I am at The Paperlane running a class, it’s lovely to catch up with my local customers once a month, being creative & getting some me time! Today we are doing a mixture of Christmas (Yep, I said the C word!) cards and floral cards. Adding in some watercolours and smooshing!

The card I am sharing today is one of the cards the class will be making…

I am still practising and getting to grips with my Zig Clean Color Brush pens, but I am thoroughly enjoying the process. I only have 4 colours of the pens, but it is amazing the spectrum of colours you can achieve with just those.

I was making my samples for the class kits and saw the new CAS(E) this Sketch! layout seen HERE and below and knew I had to make a card for the challenge, so I incorporated it into my class prep!

I started out by stamping the bloom from Beautiful Blooms II in VersaMark ink and heat embossing it with detail white embossing powder onto smooth WC card. I then set about using just 2 colours of the Zig pens Dark Pink and Yellow to colour the bloom, achieving a lovely peachy pink spectrum. This then determined the card stock base colour (Papertrey Ink Melon Berry).

In the not too distant past if I was following this sketch I would have reached for Bakers Twine or ribbon for the line above the sentiment. But as the current trend is to use a die to create a break in the mat layer panel, I reached for my current favourite the Mama Elephant curved die!

That’s all from me today, I will be sharing another of the class cards later next week. Until the next time thank you for stopping by today.

TIME OUT Challenges – Inspired By Words

Hey!

It’s time for challenge #37 over at TIME OUT Challenges and we are back to being inspired by words, the phrase for this fortnights challenge is…

Friendship is Golden

What do these words inspire you to create? I was inspired by the whole phrase, which resulted in this card…

I’ve been wanting to try THIS ‘Fussy Cutting’ technique, I saw over on the Papertrey Ink Make it Monday challenge for some time now and the ‘Fabulous’ sentiment from All Occasion Sentiments #3 is kinda perfect for the technique.

The layout of my card & paring stamps instantly jumped into my creative mind and I am fairly pleased with how it translated on to the card itself. Believe me it doesn’t always happen that way!

As you can see from this close up both the sentiment and the star banners from Garlands Galore are heat embossed gold.

This fortnight we have a lovely guest designer joining us, Cornelia, be sure to stop by Cornelia’s blog HERE to see how she was inspired by the photo and of course the FABulous TIME OUT Challenges Design Team.

For all the info and to link up your challenge be sure to stop by the TIME OUT Challenges blog. I look forward to seeing your creations 🙂

As the current challenge over at Addicted to CAS HERE and seen below is banners, I thought I would enter my card there too, I do love playing along with challenges 😉 Be sure to check it out and join in!

I’ll be back again later in the week with more to share & until then, thank you for stopping by today.

Let it SNOW…in July!

Hey!

It’s a super rainy Monday here at Uniko HQ. So I am spending the beans nap time getting a little creative in the studio! It certainly adds a little cheer to my day 🙂

I decided to play along with the current CAS(E) this Sketch! challenge HERE and seen below and created another Christmas card.

With a few clear stamp restocks expected tomorrow HERE in store, but are also available for pre order now, I decided to reach for my Stunning Snowflakes and BIG & BOLD – Snow stamp sets to create my card. I combined them with the SU! Little Letter dies which I have had in my stash for a while but not used – Oops!

Let it SNOW in July, well it feels pretty Autumn like here today and I actually turned the heating on for an hour, so if it did snow it wouldn’t shock me! Haha!

There is still time to use the 10% discount code SUMMER10 which expires at midnight tonight. Be sure to take advantage of this little offer 🙂 All our offers, re stocks and more are always announced via our newsletters, sign up HERE at the bottom of the website.
Ok, that’s all from me today, but I will be back later in the week with more to share. Until then thank you for stopping by today 🙂

Have YOU joined us yet?

Hey!

I’m here today to remind you that there is still time to join in on the current Uniko Challenge HERE. This fortnight we have another easy challenge for you…

‘Black & White with an optional twist – a splash of colour

We have two lovely guest designers joining us Anita & Julie B, be sure to stop on by their blogs as well as the Uniko Design Team. We have prizes up for grabs too, all links to the team and their creations along with the prizes can be found HERE on the other Uniko blog!

Again, I went with the optional twist of colour and AGAIN I reached for the hot pink!

UC#23c

I decided to use the new Freshly Made Sketches layout seen HERE and below for the layout of my card, which was also the starting point for my choice of stamps, the polaroid frame from Strike a Pose!

FMS Final 196-001

As you can see I rotated the sketch so that the polaroid frame would fit nicely. I need a few cards to send to friends I haven’t been in touch with for a while and so I decided to use the HEY! sentiment from All Occasion Sentiments #2 and added a layered small butterfly from English Country Garden Butterflies.

UC#23d

That’s all from me today, be sure to stop on by and enter the challenge HERE, I’d love you to join in 🙂

Uniko Challenge #23

Hey!

Today a new challenge starts over HERE on the Uniko Blog. This month we have another fun challenge for you to try with another optional twist too.

Black & White with an optional twist – splash of colour
You can use any stamps/products to enter the challenge, but we do LOVE to see you use your Uniko goodies and if you do there is an extra chance to win a prize!
Along with the Design Team inspiration, this fortnight we have 2 lovely an awesomely talented Guest Designers joining us, be sure to stop on by their blogs and have a look around at their creations. You won’t be disappointed, I know that for sure.

I went for a über CAS card as I was limited on time to create today…

UC#23

I can’t seem to stop using the new Pure Florals: Cosmos! I don’t think it has left my acrylic block since I was making samples for the release! I opted for the ‘splash’ of colour by stamping the sentiment from Simply Said Birthday in WPlus 9 Cranberry Crush ink.

I used the new CAS(E) this Sketch! sketch seen HERE and below for the layout of my card. I decided to round the lower left corners on both the stamped panel and the base card for an added bit of interest.

CTS_132

I added a small bit of glitter to the centre of the flowers for a bit of sparkle and a little more interest along with adhering the panel using foam adhesive.

UC#23a

Ok, that’s all from me today, be sure to stop by the blog HERE to see all the inspiration and link up your creations. There are prizes to be had too!

Still TIME to join in at TIME OUT Challenges

Hey!

There is still TIME to join in on the challenge over at TIME OUT Challenges & this fortnight we have a theme challenge with an optional twist & there is a prize up for grabs too for the winner of this challenge!

 The theme this time is…
Nature with the optional twist of animals (butterflies & insects can be used)
This time I decided not to twist like my card HERE, instead I decided to use the recently released Pure Florals: Cosmos to create a card for my bestie Kerry as it is her birthday today… HAPPY BIRTHDAY Kerry!

I decided to use a few crafting items that I haven’t used yet, firstly my new purchase of 4 Zig Clean Color Real Brush pens. I bought my favourite trio of colours along with a green and I have to say I am really pleased with my purchase. I’ve not added water to the for this card, I simply did flat colouring and the results are really nice.

I also used my SU! Chalk Talk dies which I have had for a while now. I used the large tag die in the collection to die cut a negative frame into my CS layer and after stamping my partial sentiment from the Pure Florals: Cosmos set I foam mounted it onto my card base. The flowers are fussy cut out and mounted with foam adhesive too.

The photo above shows the sparkle of Wink of Stella I added to the flowers after colouring them. Ok, that’s all from me today but be sure to stop by the guest designer joining us at TIME OUT Challenges, Barb, be sure to stop by Barb’s blog HERE to see how she was inspired by the photo and of course the FABulous TIME OUT Challenges Design Team.

Until my next post, thank you for stopping by today 🙂
