Stamp Of The Week – All Occasion Sentiments #2

Hey!

Welcome back to the NEW feature here at Uniko, Stamp Of The Week (SOTW). This week I am dusting off… All Occasion Sentiments #2

AllOccasionSentiments2PP

Though I have mainly focused on masculine cards this week, I couldn’t resist making a masculine card to ‘match’ the floral feminine card I made HERE yesterday.

2016SOTW6

Creating the BG was so much fun and I wanted to test it out using the CAS Colours & Sketches colours seen HERE and below and I also wanted to pair the HAPPY sentiment with images from Nautical Treasures.

CC&S color155-001

As you can see my main focus colours are the Marina Mist & Smokey Slate, using only a hint of Pool Party with the bakers twine on the tag. I decided to create the same sized card as my floral version and used the same tag, even though the HAPPY sentiment didn’t quite fit I think that it gives a fun & interesting feature to the card.

OK, that’s all from me today, I will be back tomorrow with the last instalment using this SOTW week set. Don’t forget that this set is 20% off this week HERE in store, for this week only. Plus we still have a CRAZY January Sale on for a limited time only, so be sure to grab a bargain while you can & retiring clear stamps or dies before they are gone for good.

I feel I have neglected the feminine cards this week with this set revisit, so today I went for pretty colours and flowers to accompany the ‘Hey!’ sentiment…

2016SOTW5

I started by stamping the Hey! in VersaMagic Pink Grapefruit ink, I then selected a SU! tag die to die cut the sentiment out. This in turn determined the overall size of my card which ended up being a 10.5cm square card.

2016SOTW5a

I knew I wanted to used a flower stamp on this card somewhere and so Flower Power #6 was inked as it was still on my desk 😉 This turned out well as I could then coordinated my randomly stamped BG on my base card using the matching tiny stamps from the popular Background Builders: Vines set, which I have reordered and will be back in stock over the next couple of weeks (along with 6 others).

The background was created by randomly stamping the tiny solid flower silhouette in VersaMagic Aquatic Splash ink then I stamped the tiny flower in VersaMagic Turquoise Gem twice in random places to create a dark and light shade of the flower.

It’s quite a ‘busy’ card for me with the stamped BG, but with keeping other embellishment and all the stamped images on white it still has a CAS look to it.

2016SOTW5b

As you can see I actually finished the card inside with a Happy Birthday sentiment from Simply Said Birthday which is in the same font as the Hey! I also added a trio of the flowers to accent it.

OK, that’s all from me today, I had better get some work done before these beans are awake! Don’t forget that this set is 20% off this week HERE in store. Plus we still have a CRAZY January Sale on for a limited time only, so be sure to grab a bargain while you can & retiring clear stamps or dies before they are gone for good.

Until tomorrow, thank you for stopping by today 🙂

Hey!

Welcome back to the NEW feature here at Uniko, Stamp Of The Week (SOTW). This week I am dusting off… All Occasion Sentiments #2

AllOccasionSentiments2PP

Today I decided to focus on the large ‘birthday’ sentiment and wanted to create a colourful young masculine card, this is what I came up with…

2016SOTW4

I’d been looking at Papertrey Inks Make it Monday videos for technique inspiration and I came across THIS one by Lizzy Jones, which she calls Confetti Cluster Stamping. So I gave it a go using my favourite trio of colours adding in some light grey.

2016SOTW4a

I used 6 little stars from Essentially Christmas to stamp randomly inside the stars which I had drawn in pencil around my Sizzix Framelit Dies. Even though I have stamped quite a few of the stars in Raspberry Fizz I think this card still works for a masculine card. This is helped by using a neutral base card and added turquoise blue layer to matt the stamped focal panel.

I don’t think I have entered a card at The Male Room, if I have I’ve not done so for a very long time. Anyway, the current challenge HERE is a theme challenge which is ‘Anything Goes’, so I am entering my card over there.

Challenge #26

OK, that’s all from me today, I have a bean free day and LOTS to accomplish in my 9hrs!! Don’t forget that this set is 20% off this week HERE in store. Plus we still have a CRAZY January Sale on for a limited time only, so be sure to grab a bargain while you can & retiring clear stamps or dies before they are gone for good.

I am pleased to have started the New Year on a HAPPY note 🙂 So much so that I can’t seem to stop using the large HAPPY contained in this weeks SOTW clear stamp set!

This set is perfect for those harder to create masculine cards and todays card is an example of a super CAS card suitable for both genders and all ages…

2016SOTW2

Another thing I am trying to do this year whilst creating, is to step away from my usual ‘go to’ colours and reach for those that I neglect. Like most crafters I have a HUGE selection of ink pads from different manufacturers and HUGE selection of card colours, but I always reach for the same ones and so before I buy more I am making myself use what I have.  I have done this on my card today, reaching for green and pairing it with a trio of yellow, purple and blue.

2016SOTW2a

On my card today I have paired the HAPPY with a trio of stars from Essentially Christmas and the BIRTHDAY from Simply Said Birthday. I added a trio of tiny rhinestones to the centre of the smallest star and adhered the stamped panel to my card base using foam adhesive.

OK, that’s enough waffle from me today, don’t forget that this set is 20% off this week HERE in store. Plus we still have a CRAZY January Sale on for a limited time only, so be sure to grab a bargain while you can & retiring clear stamps or dies before they are gone for good.

This week I am dusting off… All Occasion Sentiments #2

Now, I have been busy behind the scenes over the Christmas Holiday period, preparing for ALL the exciting things 2016 😉 and getting ahead with things like SOTW. I realised with all the crazy in preparation for Christmas & my life with two 16 month old twin boys (the beans), life isn’t going to calm down anytime soon, so I needed to plan, organise and prepare myself – Lol! So, fingers crossed I theoretically shouldn’t get behind with things!

Anyway, here I am with my first card instalment for the first SOTW of 2016…

2016SOTW1

I chose this set as it is full of possibilities and perfect for creating cards to celebrate the New Year along with birthdays & general hello’s that *hopefully* you will see this week on the blog.

For my card I have paired the set with three other Uniko clear stamp sets, Background Builders: Christmas, Essentially Christmas & Garlands Galore. I love designing the clear stamps so that they can be mixed and matched together to create endless possibilities and give value for money 🙂

2016SOTW1a

I started out by using a Sizzix framelits star die to die cut the aperture out of my white CS panel. I then stamped the trio of liner stars down the edge before adding some glitter using a glue pen to the die cut star edges. The panel was temporarily adhered to the card base so that I could stamp the ‘HAPPY’ and then the New Year was stamped afterwards staring backwards with the ‘R’. Before I adhered the panel to the card base with foam adhesive I decided to add a few random stars stamped in the same VersaMagic Turquoise Gem ink as the ‘HAPPY’.

Hopefully this card will soon arrive at its destination and brought some cheer to one of my friends New Year. One of my resolutions this year is to send ‘more’ if not ALL of the cards I make in 2016. I am really bad at sending cards I make which is terrible for a card maker 🙁 so I WILL rectify this in 2016.

OK, that’s enough waffle from me today, don’t forget that this set is 20% off this week HERE in store. Plus we still have a CRAZY January Sale on for a limited time only, so be sure to grab a bargain while you can & retiring clear stamps or dies before they are gone for good.

Hello 2016!

HEY & HAPPY NEW YEAR!

I do hope 2016 has begun well for you all and I wish you all a healthy, happy and creative New Year.

We saw in the New Year quietly at home and watched the fireworks in London on the TV, with a hot chocolate then went to bed! So rock ‘n’ roll these days – LOL!
I also had a little creative time before the New Year arrived and I made a card to share with you this evening…

A ‘Hello 2016’ shaker card. I used the current ColourQ challenge colours seen HERE and below & this time I added in the current Freshly Made Sketches sketch seen HERE and below.

To make my shaker window I used a die from SU! Square Pillow Box collection and the shaker mix is from Little Things From Lucy’s Cards. I used Uniko Classic Numbers to stamp the 2016 inside the shaker frame & the ‘hello’ die is from Mama Elephant die cut in gold CS and mounted over the top of two glittered stripes of double sided tape. You can never have too much glitter & bling to ring in a New Year 🙂

Today has been fairly quiet, this morning was spent with the beans just playing with their Christmas toys and me & my husband joining in 😉 Then this afternoon I hosted New Years Day dinner for my husbands Mam, Dad & brother which was lovely. The beans love spending time with their grandparents 🙂
Now the beans are in bed and the family have left I am enjoying some more creative time & preparing my cards to mail out tomorrow. One of my many New Year resolutions is to send more of the cards I make!

Ok, that’s all I have to share with you here today, I do have another card HERE on the other Uniko blog. I will be back on Monday with a NEW Stamp Of The Week, dusting it off & showing it some New Year love 😉

Until then, thank you for stopping by & here’s to another FABULOUS & EXCITING Year, with many Uniko creations & surprises 😉

YAY…CHRISTMAS!

Hey!

So…. it’s been a crazy week or so here at Uniko HQ, with all the normal Christmas preparations, it took me longer than expected to recover from the bugs that hit our household 🙁

However, I can say now that I am feeling at least 95% better, I think I will feel 100% when I’ve finished all the little finishing touches for Christmas, like make the neighbour cards & close family cards! Yep, I STILL have cards to make!

I did find a little energy at the weekend to create a few Christmas cards that will most likely arrive late as I missed the ‘official’ last posting dates…doh! Anyway, this is one of the CAS designs I came up with…

I decided to use the recently released Jingle Bells clear stamp set as the main focus and added a sentiment from the retiring Label Love: Christmas clear stamp set.

Even though it was time consuming I decided to stamp all 4 layers of the poinsettia, fussy cutting one and also stamping, embossing and fussy cutting the bell. I added some clear Wink Of Stella to the bell for a little subtle shimmer and some gold pearls finished the design off. I am quite pleased with the design & hope the recipients do too (when they get them)!

Anyway, best dash, these cards are not going to make themselves and I hope to share them here too with you all. If I don’t make it back to wish you all a Merry Christmas I will now!

Merry Christmas Everyone!

Stamp Of The Week – Rustic Christmas

Hey!

Welcome back to the NEW feature here at Uniko, Stamp Of The Week.

Basically each week I will be choosing a stamp set to dust off & give some inky love to.  I am open to requests of stamp sets to revisit, so if you have a request either leave a comment or drop me an email. Along with giving the set some love, the featured set is also discounted in store for that week.

This week I am dusting off… Rustic Christmas

RusticChristmasPP

How could I not feature this set, with the BIG day only weeks away?! I still have a HUGE amount of Christmas cards to make, so this set will be seeing quite a bit of ink!

Here is todays card…

SOTW25

As you may remember I do like adding a diagonal interest to my card layers & this style was perfect for using up some scraps of DP that I have laying around. The monochrome green colour combo was inspired by the current CAS Colours & Sketches challenge HERE, which is to choose a colour combo from any they have used in 2015.

CC&S color153-001

Whilst I was looking through the combos I came across this one from Challenge #118 (seen below) which was perfect for my card 🙂

image

The shades of green I used were ultimately determined by the colour of the polka dot DP from Papertrey Ink, which I think is Ripe Avocado. My card base is that shade too, along with the strip of card along the diagonal. I stamped the tree & sentiment in SU! Always Artichoke for my 3rd darker shade of green. I added a trio of creamy white hearts to the sentiment for a little bit of simple added interest without overpowering the main design.

SOTW25a

I am rather pleased with the design of this card and I have already made a small batch of green cards a couple in a slightly different green combination, but I think it would look lovely in a traditional red & green combo as well as a more modern colour scheme. I will try an remember to share photos of them if I do any other colours 😉

Don’t forget that this set is 20% off this week HERE in store. Plus we still have our festive shipping offers on!

Anyway, I have a few more minutes of the beans nap time, so I had better finish getting a couple of orders packed up. It’s a sunny afternoon, so a nice walk to town and the post office is on the cards.

Until tomorrow, thank you for stopping by today 🙂

Stamp Of The Week – Stunning Snowflakes

Hey!

Welcome back to the NEW feature here at Uniko, Stamp Of The Week, this week I am dusting off… Stunning Snowflakes

StunningSnowflakesPP

This clear stamp set is one of my all time favourites and so I had to ‘feature’ it before Christmas. I simply love snow and snowflakes & wish it snowed here in the UK more often!

Anyway, here is todays card using the set…

SOTW24

Todays card is almost a one layer card, but the die cut gold SNOW & tiny rhinestones adds a postal friendly layer to it. This card was inspired by this non Christmas card HERE and below.

ATC#38

The colours for my card are inspired by the current CAS Colours & Sketches challenge HERE which is a colour challenge, but you get to choose from any of the 2015 colour combos.

CC&S color153-001

SO many wonderful choices, that I actually made 2 cards but the second I will be sharing in next weeks Stamp Of The Week 😉

Anyway, I chose Challenge #144 colours seen HERE and below…

2015.10.01 #144 cols

I never found time to join in on these colours & they are perfect for a snowflake card 😉 Another much needed Christmas card & one that can be fairly quickly mass produced if needed! I’ll leave you with one last view of the card…

SOTW24a

Today we have family visiting, so I might not get much time in the studio to create. Hopefully I will get time to make one last card using this set to share with you tomorrow.

Don’t forget that the Stunning Snowflakes set is discounted this week & will be back to it’s normal price on Monday. We also have FREE UK SHIPPING & all international orders will receive a £3 shipping refund.

Until the next time, thank you for stopping by today.

SOTW23

I’ve combined 2 challenges for this card, first up the layout and overall design is based on this weeks CAS(E) this Sketch! layout seen HERE and below.

CTS_151

I started out with a different version of this card but made a few boo boos on it so abandoned it, I may try it again & share if it works! Then I remembered I have the SU! polka dot stencil and decided to do some ink daubing through it, something I’ve not done much of at all. So much so that I couldn’t even find a dauber! I used a dry baby wipe instead to brush the ink onto the black CS through the stencil which has resulted in a softer edge to my gold polka dots.

Secondly the colour scheme of my card is inspired by the new Color Throwdown challenge colours seen HERE and below.

swatch+371

Usually I would use less black and more white and gold but decided to give the black more focus. Instead of adding sentiment I decided to leave the card sentiment free & add a few rhinestones for added shine and sparkle. The stamped & fussy cut snowflake is adhered to the card using foam adhesive and lightly brushed with a clear Wink Of Stella pen.

SOTW23a

That’s all from me this evening, it’s been another long day with the beans today. They were tired following their afternoon at Grandma’s & Grandad’s yesterday and so were quite irritable at times and quite demanding for attention. Hence this mummy is quite tired now!

I have some December Daily to catch up on so I might relax in the studio and have a play! I will be back tomorrow with more to share using this set & until then, thank you for stopping by.
