Guest Designer – Faye Wynn-Jones

Happy Hump Day!

I am super happy this Wednesday morning as I have the lovely Faye Wynn-Jones from Stamping Fluffnstuff, my amazing Guest Designer for January back on the blog with some more Copic coloured Pure Florals: Peony inspiration.

I am sure many if not all of you know Faye, but without further ado, I will hand you over to Faye to introduce herself and her beautiful cards she has made to share with you today.

“Hi Everyone, I’m Faye and I’m addicted to Copics. (Choklit too, but ssshh, that’s a secret, we’ll keep it between us!) I’m the Copic endorsed Instructor for the UK and I also work closely with the European Copic Distributor and Instructors.

I’m wife, Mum and HuMummy to three (demanding) cats too. With all that going on, it’s not often I get to colour something for fun. So I was delighted when Bev asked me to Guest Design for her. I first came across Bev’s gor-geous stamps at a show last year and I have to tell you it was love at first sight. If you get to any of the shows Uniko exhibit at, you must stop by. The girls are so friendly and the stall is a real feast of inspiration and yummy goodies. You might even spot me in a corner drooling!”

I love colouring an image in monotone. It can be really easy to get caught up in what colours work with what. When you work only in grey, you take that away and can really focus on smooth blending and the light source. Once these things start to fall into place, it is much easier to work with colours and that’s what I did for my final card.

Uniko Challenge #51 – Anything Goes, optional twist Love

Hey!

Welcome to the January/February 2019 Uniko Challenge.

This is our first challenge of 2019 and we’ve chosen a really simple theme to ease you back in – Anything Goes. But for those of you that are already into the swing of 2019 challenges and would like more to get your teeth into we’ve added the optional twist of LOVE.

We have the amazingly talented and super creative Trina P joining us as out Guest Designer for this challenge. I’m sure you all know of her and are just as impressed by her cards as we are, but it’s always worth a visit to her blog to check out what’s she’s been up to.

Guest Designer – Trina P

Too cute!

I decided to go with the ‘Anything Goes’ part of the challenge, I’m not quite in the Valentine’s frame of mind! Plus, I treated myself to some new crafty goodies and wanted to give them a whirl with the idea I had formed in my head…

USC#51

One of the crafty products I bought was Nuvo Expanding Mousse. Wow, this stuff is fun! I tested out with the Pure Florals Chrysanthemum Stencil too & shared over on my Instagram stories.

For this card I have used it with the Scattered Polka Dot Stencil and this time I didn’t heat expand it. I love the flat shimmer finish it has just aired dried too. I bought the Mustard Seed colour and it is more like a vintage gold colour. I’ve used it on some Papertrey Ink Royal Velvet card stock.

USC#51a

I’ve paired it with Pure Florals Peony and a sentiment from Simply Said Blocks (back in stock next week). I wanted the stencil design to be seen, so I stamped and embossed the smaller Peony bloom onto vellum. I only have copper and gold embossing powders (ancient) and neither matched perfectly with the Nuvo Mousse, so I decided to go with more of a contrast and used the copper.

The layout of my card is based on this weeks Freshly Made Sketches layout seen HERE and below…

My talented team have some inspiration for you too, so be sure to head on over to their blogs and see what they’ve been up to.

Happy Monday!

I am super happy this Monday morning to introduce you to Faye Wynn-Jones from Stamping Fluffnstuff, my amazing Guest Designer for January 🙂

I got to thinking about how I spend time colouring an image, sometimes, but not always, I create a background too. I wanted to see how it looked if I created a background and left the image ‘naked’. My plan was that the coloured background would make the image ‘pop’.

fayewynnjones020119a

On these two cards, I have coloured the backgrounds with Copics. For the pink card I added texture by applying Colourless Blender Various ink with a natural sponge. On the green card, I used the same process but I applied the Colourless Blender Various Ink with an old face cloth. After that, I splatted some ink across the backgrounds by flicking the Copic nib on the edge of the lid. You might want to think about putting something on your desk before you do that part!

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!

Welcome to another fun year here at Uniko. I am super excited to share another year of what I love… my designs, products and creations with you.

Tonight I am sharing the first part of a project that was made at the last Uniko Stamping Retreat back in November, A desk top CD Calendar…

2019Calendar1b

2019Calendar1a

These are so fun to make and are totally customisable, today I am sharing the front cover & January. For the front cover I couldn’t resist using the recently released Pure Florals: Peony. It is such a beautiful statement flower and as I have shown previously it looks stunning even when it is left uncoloured.

2019Calendar1

The die cut numbers I have used are the Concord & 9th Double Cut Numbers. They are such fun dies and the perfect size for this calendar and cards.

2019Calendarc

Obviously it is only correct to start in month order, so here I have paired the front cover with January. As the November Uniko Stamping Retreat’s main focus was the upcoming December Release products, I ‘had’ to use Snowflake Serenade!

2019Calendard

Here I have stamped the main large image from Snowflake Serenade is stamped in Encore Silver ink and heat embossed with my favourite Stardust EP. I’ve then added a sentiment from the set and some of the small individual snowflakes using Altenew inks. I couldn’t resist adding a few drops of Gloss White Nuvo Drops to the snowflake centres too 😉

That’s all I have to share today of this 2019 Desk Top Calendar, I will be back tomorrow with more months to share and at the end of the feature I will share a link for you to download and print the pages I created myself in Photoshop.

Thanks for taking the time to stop by today and Happy 2019!

Hugs

Introducing… Pure Florals Peony Clear Stamp Set

Hey!

Welcome to Day 4 of the December 2018 Release product introductions.

I am so happy you have decided to pop by again. Today is the last of the December production introductions and I have saved a new favourite till last. Pure Florals: Peony 🙂

I have one more bonus card to share with you today using the smaller bloom from the clear stamp set…

IntroPFpeony2

How about some classic colouring on kraft card stock with pencils? I wouldn’t class myself no where near an expert at colouring and I think this is a perfect choice and combination of mediums to get lovely results. I used 3 shades of pink Prismacolor Pencils plus white for the bloom and 3 greens for the leaves.

Once I had stamped the flower in VersaMark ink and heat embossed in white EP I started colouring. I always start with adding shading with the darkest colours and finish with the lightest and white to blend them together.

IntroPFpeony2a

To finish the card, I added some simple white bakers twine, a sentiment from Simply Said Blocks II and some of my favourite Gloss Simply White Nuvo Drops!

As it is the season of giving, each day of the introductions I will be randomly selecting one lucky comment from either this blog post, the Uniko website blog post, Facebook or Instagram to receive an eGift Certificate code to the value of £10! So be sure to leave a lovely comment 😉 Winners will be announced on Tuesday 11th December before the release!

Winners will be announced tomorrow Tuesday 11th December before the release at 9pm GMT!
Thanks for stopping by today!
