Sailing Through The Week Like…

Happy Hump Day!

Who’s sailing smoothly through the week and who’s like me and sailing choppy waters?!

I can’t believe how much time has passed since I last shared inspiration here *gasps* with horror! Thanks for hanging in there with me in my absence recently. I promise I have been a busy bee behind the scenes 😉

Anyway, how about some Nautical Treasures inspiration…

Sailing1

I’ve had these cards made & photographed for probably a month now! The last few weeks of the summer holidays here in the UK got a little busy with family visiting and day trips out. Then The Beans turned 5 *GASP* on the 2nd September and they started BIG school (full time) on the 3rd!

It hasn’t quite been smooth sailing as we all adjust to a new routine and to top it off this past weekend the dreaded back to school flu/cold bugs hit ME!!

Anyway, this masculine duo was inspired by my awesome DT member Jane. I love it when DT members think outside of the box when it comes to alternative uses for products and using the Tiger Print Stencil was Jane’s genius idea. You can see Jane’s inspiration HERE.

Sailing1bSo when I needed some waves for my cards I instantly thought to recreate Jane’s idea, which I have done for both designs.

Hopefully I’ve given you a little mid week inspiration to look at your crafty stash to see how else it can be used and all being well, my next post won’t be as long a wait as this one!

Have a wonderful Wednesday!

July 2019 Reveal, Design Team Blog Hop & GIVEAWAY!

Hey!

What an awesome week with so much creative inspiration. I hope you have all enjoyed it as much as me and now finally the day has arrived and the July 2019 Reveal, Blog Hop & GIVEAWAY is here! The Release will be available to purchase HERE at a NEW time of 9pm GMT tonight.

Hopefully you have started over HERE on the Uniko blogspot blog for the reveal of all the July 2019 Release products and then you have hopped on over from our fabulous Guest Designer this month Keren’s blog HERE. Haven’t Keren’s creations been amazing, with so many creative ideas and techniques. I for one have been inspired.

Okay, so I’m a little late (again) with my post today. I found working in the heat *so* hard yesterday and it just drained me off everything. Anyway, I managed to finish up my cards this morning and now I have them ready to share with you. Hopefully they won’t disappoint!

I’ve been on a rainbow kick recently and I had to apply it to the Background Blocks Nautical Stripes. I also wanted to show you how the background block can be used for other occasions, not just nautical styles.

July19release1

I positioned the background block into my small MISTI, masking, inking and stamping each of the colours. It was a fairly lengthy process to apply each individual colour, but the result is so pretty. I used Altenew inks for the colours and I used the Lawn Fawn stamp shammy to clean the stamp between colours without removing it from my MISTI.

July19release1a

I added the ‘Have a Perfect Day’ sentiment from Sentiments Outlined and a tropical cluster of images from Paradise. To finish the design and add a little sparkle, I applied White Blizzard Nuvo Drops to the inside of the sentiment.

Still on my rainbow kick I used some of the same colours and my TE Blender Brushes to create an ink blended background for the Large Background Tropical Paradise…

July19release2

I absolutely love how this turned out! The colours really make the tropical background pop. I didn’t want to take too much focus from the colours and the background, so I added a simple sentiment of ‘Celebrate’ which is partially stamped from Sentiments Outlined. It really makes you feel as though you are getting value for money when you can easily change up sentiments with ease.

July19release2a

Lastly for today I have one more card that had been whirling around my head! I had intended it to be rainbow colours too, but a more muted colour scheme happened instead!

July19release3

I thought the ‘Celebrate In Style’ sentiment would be perfect to pair with Background Blocks Mid Century Modern and I was right, it looks so cool!

July19release3a

I stamped the sentiment first and then filled in the space around with the background block. With its open style, it is fairly easy to position and stamp to achieve the look of an all over pattern. I used Altenew Cloudy Night for the pattern and added Stampin’ Up! Balmy Blue for the card base & inside the sentiment. Some Altenew enamel dots were the perfect shade of blue to add to some of the dots in the design.

Okay, that’s all from me today, but as usual we have our traditional Design Team Blog Hop & Giveaway. To be in the chance of winning The ENTIRE July 2019 Release! (5 clear stamp sets, 1 previously released clear stamp sets and 5 stencil designs).

Simply comment along the blog hop, it’s as easy as that! You have until Midnight 3rd August 2019. Winner will be announced a few days after.

Happy Hopping!

Re-introducing Nautical Treasures AND Introducing Background Blocks Nautical Stripes, Anchors & Fleur De Lis Stencils

Hey!

Welcome to Day 3 of the July 2019 Release product introductions.

Hopefully you have hopped on over from our lovely Guest Designer Keren’s blog HERE. If you missed the start of the hop and introduction to todays products, you can catch up HERE.

Today we are re-introducing a previously released and retired clear stamp set, Nautical Treasures. Plus, I have designed some new products to go perfectly with it! Introducing the newest Background Block, Nautical Stripes and 2 new stencil designs, Anchors and Fleur De Lis.

Today I have a couple of clean & simple nautical inspired cards to share with you. First up I have one pairing the new Background Block Nautical Stripes with the sail boat from the previously released and retired Nautical Treasures.

July19intro12

This card was really quick to make. I stamped the Background Blocks Nautical Stripes in Altenew Desert Night ink. I always use my MISTI for this, so I can repeat stamp for a perfect impression, especially with the more solid stripes in the design.

July19intro12a

The sail boat is stamped in Catherine Pooler Midnight ink, fussy cut out and I added a stencilled anchor to the sail. The sentiment is from Nautical Treasures.

Lastly for today I have this quick and easy card…

July19intro11

This time I decided to use the thick stripe from Background Builders Classics, which we introduced on Monday. Again I used Altenew Desert Night ink and my MISTI to stamp. I then stencilled one anchor to strip of white card & tied through some bakers twine. The sentiment is from Simply Said.

July19intro11a

Unfortunately that is all I have to share with you today, my mojo was exhausted with the recent heat here 🙁

However, my AWESOME Design Team and wonderful Guest Designer this month, Keren Baker have worked their magic with today’s products, so be sure to hop along & see them…

Hi there, my name is Tanja and I live in Germany with my wonderful husband, two children and three cats. I am addicted to stamping and paper crafting for a while now and I decided to start my own blog www.littleartcottage.blogspot.com in February 2014. I love to find new ways to use my supplies and try new techniques. Coloring and the design of little scenes are my favorite things to do. I love to make people happy with my projects and I sure hope that you will be one of them. I am super excited that I got the chance to be a guest designer at the Uniko Challenge and I can’t wait to see your creations in the gallery.

Tanja was the lucky winner from Challenge #30 and has created this beauty to inspire you…

Ok, so onto my card…

USC#32

As you can see I went for a super CAS one layer card. Nautical Treasures is a perfect stamp set for quick masculine cards and I also wanted to give ink blending a little go again. I certainly need some practice at it 😉

USC#32a

As I have created a one layer card and with my nautical theme, it is also perfect for the current Less is More challenge HERE, which is a one layer week, with an AT SEA theme.

Stamp Of The Week – All Occasion Sentiments #2

Hey!

Welcome back to the NEW feature here at Uniko, Stamp Of The Week (SOTW). This week I am dusting off… All Occasion Sentiments #2

AllOccasionSentiments2PP

Though I have mainly focused on masculine cards this week, I couldn’t resist making a masculine card to ‘match’ the floral feminine card I made HERE yesterday.

2016SOTW6

Creating the BG was so much fun and I wanted to test it out using the CAS Colours & Sketches colours seen HERE and below and I also wanted to pair the HAPPY sentiment with images from Nautical Treasures.

CC&S color155-001

As you can see my main focus colours are the Marina Mist & Smokey Slate, using only a hint of Pool Party with the bakers twine on the tag. I decided to create the same sized card as my floral version and used the same tag, even though the HAPPY sentiment didn’t quite fit I think that it gives a fun & interesting feature to the card.

2016SOTW6a

OK, that’s all from me today, I will be back tomorrow with the last instalment using this SOTW week set. Don’t forget that this set is 20% off this week HERE in store, for this week only. Plus we still have a CRAZY January Sale on for a limited time only, so be sure to grab a bargain while you can & retiring clear stamps or dies before they are gone for good.

Until tomorrow, thank you for stopping by today 🙂

TIME OUT Challenges – Home Sweet Home

Hey!

Today is the start of the next fortnightly challenge over at TIME OUT Challenges and this time it is a Home Sweet Home challenge inspired by this photo below…

A lovely nautical themed inspiration photo which lead to this creation below, as you can see I went with the nautical theme & was inspired heavily by all the stripes!!

I started out by using the reverse of one of my background builder stamps to stamp the wide stripes on the base card in VersaMagic Ocean Depth ink. I love the fluffy edges it created which I think has a ocean like feel to them. The boat is stamped in VersaFine Onyx Black and I masked each sail separately to stamp the red stripes using the line stamp from Background Builders: Squared.

Before adhering the boat onto the card using foam adhesive, I stamped & embossed the sentiment in detail white embossing powder staggered/stepped on the stripes to add a little more interest.

That’s all from me today & unfortunately this will be my last fortnight here at TIME OUT Challenges as a DT member 🙁 I took the tough decision to step down from the team to concentrate my extra TIME here at Uniko. I’m sure you will see me playing along with the challenges though from time to time 😉

Anyway, this fortnight we have a lovely guest designer joining us, Anni, be sure to stop by Anni’s blog HERE to see how she was inspired by the photo and of course the FABulous TIME OUT Challenges Design Team.

For all the info and to link up your challenge be sure to stop by the TIME OUT Challenges blog. I look forward to seeing your creations 🙂 I’ll be back again later in the week with more to share & until then, thank you for stopping by today.
