January Restocks with a Throwback Thursday thrown in!

Hello & Happy Thursday!

I thought I would pop by and let you know about a few clear stamp restocks that are currently available on backorder and will (with all being well) land in the studio on Tuesday 12th January.

Let’s have a look and see what’s been top of the restock request list…

The Mid Century Modern range of clear stamp sets continue to be popular and highly requested. They are one of my favourites and it makes me happy to see Mid Century Modern Florals back next to the background blocks in this range lining the shelves again in the studio.

I’ve another floral in the restocks this month and another in the modern florals, Uniko Style.

This clear stamp set looks a little daunting and uninspiring from the product picture. But when you stamp, layer the flowers and start creating patterns it really comes to life.

Marvellous Mehndi has been out of stock for a while now, apologies to those who have been waiting patiently for it. Having to close during lockdown 1 put quite a delay on everything really and I just about feel as though I am catching up!

Looking back through the gallery on the website I was surprised to see that it was October 2016 when this clear stamp set was launched. How time flies, but still patterns and fun designs like this remain timeless.

With Uniko’s 9th Birthday coming up next month I wanted to get this popular stamp back in stock, Block Party Birthday.

This all in one stamp makes making birthday cards a breeze! Use it as a backdrop, the main focus or even use sections of the design to accentuate other birthday elements.

Lastly and by no means least for this batch of restocks we have the ever popular Background Blocks Wonky Stripes.

Such a fun and eye catching pattern to use as a backdrop for all kinds of elements and occasions. I personally love geometric style stamps like this for masculine cards. But it looks pretty awesome with florals too 😉

Unfortunately that is all the clear stamp set restocks at the moment. I am planning on some more towards the end of January / beginning of February. So if there is something you’ve been waiting for, please leave a comment or send me an email and I will do my best to add that to the HOT list!

Thank you for your patience, understanding & continued support 🙂

Thyroid Awareness Month Blog Hop!

Hey & welcome to the next stop on the…

Thyroid Awareness Month Blog Hop

I am delighted to be a part of this wonderful hop organised by the lovely Milka Gubo from Crafty Milka. January is Thyroid Awareness Month. 26 designers from all over the World joined together in this special blog hop which will last from January 5th until January 30th.

The aim of the hop is to support Thyroid Awareness Month and to raise public awareness of the importance of a Thyroid Gland and problems it can cause when not working properly.

We will be sharing our handmade projects featuring butterfly, butterflies and/or blue paisley pattern. Thyroid looks like butterfly and blue paisley patterned ribbon is a new symbol of Thyroid Awareness month, so it was our choice to incorporate these elements in our handmade projects.

I felt this was a blog hop I really wanted to be part of for many reasons. Firstly I was a registered nurse for over 10 years. When I moved to the North East of the UK, I began a new path of looking after surgical patients and one of the surgical patients I looked after were those who had had Thyroid Surgery. I won’t go into detail, but they were a high level observation patient post operation, with many complications to look out for.

My second reason for wanting to take part is because a few of my close friends suffer from thyroid problems. This hop is just a small way of raising awareness and showing a little bit of love to those affected by it.

Here is the card I made to share with you all…

ThyroidBH

I decided to incorporate both the Paisley Pattern and the Butterfly elements, using Uniko’s Marvellous Mehndi and English Country Garden Butterflies clear stamps.

ThyroidBHa

The layout of my card is from the current CAS Colours & Sketches challenge seen HERE and below. The sketch made it easy for me to combine all the colours and elements – love it when this happens!

I used Altenew inks for my shades of blue a the card stock is the new Stampin’ Up! In Colour Blueberry Bushel. I also used Stampin’ Up! Stitched Framelits dies to die cut the 2 sizes of squares.

Thank you so much for stopping by today, I hope I have inspired you with my card. Be sure that you catch up on all the blog hop stops (if you haven’t already) that are listed at the end of this post.

Before I go I have a little GIVEAWAY…

Surprise Stencil Release!

Hello!

Today at Uniko we have a surprise stencil release!

Earlier this month Uniko was at Stamp Magic in Doncaster and I had 3 NEW stencil designs available to purchase at the show and I am super pleased they are NOW available HERE on the website.

Let’s have a look at the 3 new designs…

Uniko Stencil Bright Butterflies £4.50, Copyright Uniko Ltd 2018, www.uniko.co.uk

Uniko Stencil Scattered Polka Hexagons £4.50, Copyright Uniko Ltd 2018, www.uniko.co.uk

Uniko Stencil Mehndi Mandala £4.50, Copyright Uniko Ltd 2018, www.uniko.co.uk

Like with any new release here at Uniko we have a blog hop to celebrate and show you beautiful inspiration using the new products. I am super duper pleased to have a wonderful, talented and all round lovely crafter joining me and the Uniko Stencil DT us as our Guest Designer…. Ruth from Crafting While The Baby Naps. Hopefully you have hopped along from Ruth’s blog, but if not be sure to check out Ruth’s amazing inspiration HERE.

And as with all the Uniko Blog Hops we have a GIVEAWAY too! Simply comment along the hop for your chance to win one of the three stencil designs being released and as there are 3 new designs, I will randomly pick 3 lucky winners!!

Ok, how about some inspiration from myself using the new designs…

IntroMandalaStencil2

First up is the card in my sneak photo over on the Uniko Blogspot blog! I wanted to show how the Mehndi Mandala stencil can be paired with the large mandala clear stamp from Marvellous Mehndi.

IntroMandalaStencil2a

I started by inking my Mehndi Mandala with Distress Oxide Inks, in Wilted Violet and Peacock Feathers. I then stamped the mandala from Marvellous Mehndi, fussy cutting it out and adding some Stampin’ Up! Dazzling Diamonds glitter to various sections. I’ve adhered it to my stencilled layer using 1mm thick foam adhesive.

IntroMandalaStencil2c

I’ve used the Mehndi Mandala stencil for my next card too, this time showing you more of the design…

IntroMandalaStencil1

Again I used Distress Oxide Inks, this time Wilted Violet, Picked Raspberry and Peacock Feathers. I offset mounted my stencilled layer with some black card and onto a white card base. The sentiment is from Simply Said and I added an old Stampin’ Up! embellishment.

IntroMandalaStencil1a

As I was on a roll with the colour combo of Wilted Violet and Peacock Feathers I decided to use if for my Bright Butterflies card…

IntroBButterflyStencil1

I’d had the SU! Crumb Cake card stencilled with the design since Stamp Magic, but I didn’t know how I wanted to use it, until I saw this weeks Freshly Made Sketches sketch seen HERE and below!

FMS Final 342-001

I layered my stencilled section with some scrap turquoise card from my stash and paired it with a sentiment from Simply Said Blocks II.

IntroBButterfliesStencil1a

Lastly, but by no means least I inked up the Scatted Polka Hexagons stencil…

IntroSPHstencil1

This is a fun geometric stencil and it pairs beautifully with the recently released Bee Happy clear stamp set. This time I used my new Catherine Pooler inks to blend through the stencil.

IntroSPHstencil1a

I used Tiara, Tiki Torch and Tutti Frutti from top to bottom. I then moved the position of the stencil slightly and used a fine liner to draw inside the polka hexagons to create a fun pattern.

IntroSPHstencil1b

To finish the design I trimmed my stencilled panel on the diagonal, die cut a large hexagon, big enough for my chosen sentiment from Bee Happy, which is stamped onto my base card. I’ve then embellished the card with a trio of fussy cut bees.

That’s all the inspiration I have to share with you today, but be sure to hop around the Stencil Design Team blogs below for even more. Don’t forget to comment too, to be in the chance of being a lucky winner!

Thanks for stopping by today.

July 2017 Design Team Blog Hop & GIVEAWAY!

Hey!

It’s time for another Design Team Blog Hop & GIVEAWAY!

I know theoretically July should be a release month, but earlier in the year I mentioned that I was aiming to take some of the stress of releases away a little, I have delayed it until August, it’ll be a good one – promise!  Anyway, the Design Team and I are here today to revisit and give some fresh inky love to a previously released clear stamp set.

This month I decided to dust off and revisit the previously released Marvellous Mehndi

As usual I have picked a couple of my ‘old’ favourites using this set and I am sharing them over HERE at the start of the hop. I’ve had so much fun creating cards using this set, it really does have a wealth of possibilities. Here’s how I used it today…

UnikoJuly2017revisit

{Click Photo for a Closer Look}

I’ve had these Gansai Tambi Starry Watercolours for AGES and I think I’ve only used them once since I got them nearly year ago *hangs head in shame*.  Anyway, I had the idea of using them with the large mandala from the set for a couple of weeks now and I really wanted to try them out on some black card stock too. So that’s how this card came about!

UnikoJuly2017revisit2

{Click Photo for a Closer Look}

I stamped the mandala in VersaMark and heat embossed it with black embossing powder. I then used all of the colours from the Gansai Tambi Starry Watercolours collection to colour them in. This was seriously therapeutic and I just LOVE the sparkle! I added a die cut congrats sentiment from Stampin’ Up! and some gold nail heads to finish the card off.

I have a little sneaky peek of another card I will be sharing HERE (at 1pm GMT) for this weeks CAS Colour & Sketches DT post. I had so much fun I couldn’t resist using almost all the same supplies!

A Look Back At 2016!

Hey!

Welcome back to another ‘Look Back At 2016! This year has been an amazing year for myself personally, but it has been a fantastic year for Uniko. We have had 5 fabulous releases, with 16 new clear stamps sets lining the Uniko HQ shelves.

I don’t know about you, but to me this year has almost passed by in a blur! With that in mind I thought it would be nice now the main seasonal festivities are over and as 2016 draws to a close, to take a look back at Uniko’s 2016.

Apologies for the delay in posting and not posting yesterday, I had little sleep Wednesday night due to a Josh bean having nightmares, poor little fella. Then on Thursday I had to take Mr Cat to the vet and he had an operation to remove his eye as he had a large tumour in it. Another poor little fella that needed my attention and love post op last night.

Anyway, I am back today, I am taking a look back at the September/October 2016 Release and giving some fresh inky love to Originally OrganicMarvellous MehndiSimply Said IIWinter Foliage & Christmas Sparkle clear stamp sets.

First up a super CAS card using Originally Organic

I was inspired by the current challenge over at TIME OUT Challenges HERE, which is an inspired by words challenge.

‘With each sunrise we are given a chance for a new beginning’

I thought the sentiment I chose was appropriate and related to the ‘new beginning’ part of the challenge phrase. I then decided to accent the sentiment with the leaf cluster and a trio of sunny yellow buds to represent the ‘sunrise’.

Next I dusted off Marvellous Mehndi

For this card I got my distress inks out and enjoyed some relaxing ink blending! The sentiment is a mix of ‘Happy’ from Simply Said Birthday, which is partially stamped and the ‘New Year’ is from Simply Said II.

Lastly, I switched gears back to Christmas and combined both Christmas Sparkle & Winter Foliage. Plus I really gave my new MISTI a workout on this card.

I love this multi card layer stamping and lining up the bauble was SO much easier using the MISTI! I was also able to stamp the bauble in Altenew Cosmic Berry ink and then stamp over it again in VersaMark to be able to heat emboss it with Crystal EP.

I hope you will join me again tomorrow, when I will be taking a look back at the 2016 November Release and the last of 2016. Until then, thank you for stopping by.

Hugs

Fond Farewell…

Hey!

It feels like forever since I last blogged over here! Today was my last class at The Paperlane, I have been doing demos and classes there since I launched my Uniko stamp range 4 1/2 years ago. I have made so many lovely friends through my love of stamps and this hobby and it was sad to call it a day, but time to progress and move forward into other exciting ventures. I am sure I will be seeing some of you soon 😉

Anyway, I thought I would share a couple of the cards we made in the class…

FinalClass1{click the photo for a closer view}

I’ve been seeing this ‘spotlight’ stamping technique a lot recently, so I thought I would give it a whirl with the newly released Marvellous Mehndi clear stamp set and the large mandala stamp from the set. As I don’t have a MISTI yet 🙁 even though I have nicely asked Santa (aka hubby) for an early Christmas present as I ‘really’ do deserve one, I have been EVER so good so far this year!

I digress, so I had to line up the stamp the old fashioned way. I was pleased with the results and once the class had the hang of my instructions is was quite fun 😉

FinalClass1a

{click the photo for a closer view}

The mandala is stamped in VersaFine Onyx Black ink and the top focal layer coloured with a selection of Stampin’ Up! markers, my favourite In Colour collection.

To get a little more practice with the technique we also made this card…

FinalClass3

{click the photo for a closer view}

It would have been rude not to give the ‘spotlighting’ treatment to the new Originally Organic clear stamp set too! So I chose the swirly foliage stamp. Again it is stamped in VersaFine Onyx Black ink and coloured with Stampin’ Up! markers.

FinalClass3a

{click the photo for a closer view}

That’s all I have to share for today, but I will be back again tomorrow with more to share AND Stamp Of The Week returns on Monday – Yay!

Thank you to all who came to the class today and to all of you who have taken the time to stop by the blog. Enjoy the rest of the weekend!
