One Layer Stencil Fun!

Hey & Happy Monday!

I do hope your week has begun well? Mine started well, but then took an unplanned turn when Bean no.2 came out in the chicken pox spots. Second time round and it still surprised me as to how suddenly and quickly they begin to appear from nowhere! Luckily my in laws are back from their holiday this week and were able to help look after him while I took Bean no.1 to nursery. It still meant little time for work and what not, but it meant that we were not all stuck inside again.

I am happy that yesterday I managed to make a couple of cards, the first of which I am sharing today…

UnikoOLstencil1

I still had my Fun Flowers Stencil out on my desk from when I made my cards for the Uniko March 2018 Design Team Blog Hop & Giveaway HERE. And I had been wanting to join in on the current “Less is More” one layer challenge HERE, which is to use stencils, perfect combo!

367 Stencils

I needed a little more of a mojo boost and mooched around my ‘go to’ challenges for a colour combo and thought the Color Throwdown challenge HERE looked fun, so gave it a whirl too!

swatch485

Plus to mix it up a little and as 3 is my favourite number I decided to join in on the AAA cards challenge fun HERE too, which is to use 1/3 of your card.

#111

With all that I managed to keep it all clean & simple! I used Altenew Rouge ink as my closest match to a peach colour, applied it through my Fun Flowers Stencil which I kept to the lower third of my one layer card. Then added the Simply Said Blocks happy birthday sentiment.

UnikoOLstencil1a

Ok, that’s all from me today. I think it’ll be another early night for this mummy after the Spring forward with the clocks and a poorly bean, it could be a night of little sleep, fingers crossed it isn’t! Until later in the week, thanks for stopping by today šŸ™‚

March 2018 Design Team Blog Hop & GIVEAWAY!

Hey!

It’s time for another Uniko Design Team Blog Hop & GIVEAWAY – Whoohoo!!Ā For those of you who are new around these parts I will explain what this post is all about…

Here at Uniko HQ it is just myself behind the screen, blogging, designing, packaging stamps & orders through the Uniko online shop, customer service and all the things in between. I *usually* release new product every other month for a number of reasons, but mainly so I can keep up with everything!
On non – release months like this month I like to set myself and the Design Team a challenge to look back at a previously released product and give it some more love.
Usually I choose just one product that was released the previous year or a once favourite that hasn’t seen much air time. This month with the recent additions to the Design Team, The Stencil Design Team and having released last month a co-ordinating stencil to the previously released Fun Flowers clear stamp set. I thought it would be nice to showcase both the stencil and clear stamp set.

I managed to find a little creative time and mojo and created a ‘twofer’ to share with you! I’ve been wanting to join in on the Twofer Challenge HERE since it first launched, but time hasn’t been on mind side šŸ™

UnikoRevisit318b

For my first card I used just the Fun Flowers clear stamp set. Reaching for the CAS Colour & Sketches challenge colours HERE, that I still had on my desk! Some simple ‘off stamping’ to create a slightly muted cascade of flowers and embellishing with one of the large Fun Flower possibilities. The sentiment is from Simply Said Blocks.

UnikoRevisit318c

Next I decided to pair some monochrome Fun Flowers with a colourful stencilled die cut using the coordinating Fun Flowers Stencil and this time theĀ CAS Colour & Sketches challenge colours in Distress Oxide Inks!

UnikoRevisit318e

I over embellished the flowers with some Altenew and Stampin’ Up! enamel dots, I just can’t resist using them! This time I chose the ‘HAPPY’ sentiment from Simply Said Blocks, which I will then add a sentiment inside such as ‘birthday’, ‘belated birthday’, etc etc.

UnikoRevisit318d

Ok, so I am entering my ‘twofer’ over HERE and I hope that I have inspired you to join in on that fun challenge and this weeks CAS Colours & Sketches challenge too šŸ˜‰

Un Accueil Chaleureux (A Warm Welcome)…

Hello & Happy Weekend!

Today I am delighted to be introducing you to the newest member of the Design Team. I am sure that this person will not be a stranger to the majority of Uniko followers and to those who join in on the Uniko and “Less is More” Challenges!

So without further ado I would like you all to give Izzy from Izzy Scrap a warm welcome šŸ™‚

Hi, Iā€™m Izzy. For those who already know me, you know how much I love the Uniko stamps so when I received Bevā€™s email asking me if Iā€™d like to join the DT, I was just over the moon and I am still now. Iā€™m so proud and so very delighted to be joining the wonderful and creative Uniko Design Team. I live in Le Mans in France with my amazing lovely hubby and our two teenagers (16 and 13) plus our two cats. They are my first fervent supporters (the cats tooĀ !). I bought my first crafting supplies (1 rubber stamp, 3 embossing pens andĀ 1 embossing powder, using my halogen lamp to heat embossĀ !) about 20 years ago to make my own Christmas cardsĀ ! But I really started to craft in 2010 when we were abroad. I started with scrapbooking but I rapidly switched to cards. When we came back to France, my husband and children urged me to make my own blog, thatā€™s what I did in May 2016. Since then I enjoy making cards and visiting blogs where I find my inspiration. Iā€™d like to think that my style is rather CAS and I try to find my own style. Iā€™m so happy to belong to this community so rich of wonderful people, full of artists and Iā€™m very thankful to be part of it. Itā€™s a nice way to meet new friends and itā€™s a great experienceĀ !

If you are unfamiliar with Izzy’s style, here are a trio of cards Izzy has made to inspire you using a variety of Uniko clear stamps…

Background Blocks – Horizontal Stripe & Fun Flowers

Pure Florals: Gerbera (Back In Stock Tuesday) and Happy Succulents

Pure Florals: Poinsettia & Background Builders: Christmas (Retired, but may make a reappearance this upcoming festive season!)

How fabulous are these? I am sure you’ll be as excited as myself to have Izzy part of the team and are looking forward to seeing the inspiration she has to offer. For more details on these creations and to see more of Izzy’s work be sure to head on over HERE.

I thought I would make a card for the occasion too and this is what I came up with…

Welcome1Having seen one of the cards Izzy made, I was inspired to ink up Fun Flowers. I was also inspired by the current CAS(E) this Sketch! sketch seen HERE and below, specifically Hannelie’s card HERE too.

CTS_235

To stamp the stripes I used both the ‘official’ side of the line stamp from Background Builders: Squared and the ‘unofficial’ reverse side of the stamp to achieve a thicker line. The ‘welcome’ sentiment is from Sweet Baby and I accentuated the flower with some Stampin’ Up! Enamel Dots.Welcome1aI also used the colours from this weeks CAS C0lours & Sketches challenge seen HERE and below.

Thank you & welcome Izzy

A Look Back At 2016!

Hey!

Welcome back to another ‘Look Back At 2016! This year has been an amazing year for myself personally, but it has been a fantastic year for Uniko. We have had 5 fabulous releases, with 16 new clear stamps sets lining the Uniko HQ shelves.

I don’t know about you, but to me this year has almost passed by in a blur! With that in mind I thought it would be nice now the main seasonal festivities are over and as 2016 draws to a close, to take a look back at Uniko’s 2016.

Today, I am taking a look back at the April 2016 Release and giving some fresh inky love toĀ Celebrate With CakeĀ andĀ Fun FlowersĀ clear stamp sets.

First up I have a shaker card usingĀ Celebrate With Cake

I seem to have a ‘thing’ for shaker cards when I use this set šŸ˜‰ I had some Stampin’ Up! Designer Paper on my desk, left over from my CAS Christmas cardsĀ HERE. I decided to put some more of it to good use, instead of sitting and admiring it!

I used my MISTI tool again to line up and stamp the top and bottom of the cupcake and used Copic Markers to colour it in. The sequins are a mix of Stampin’ Up! collections and the the ‘happy’ die cut is from the Hello You Thinlits Collection also from Stampin’ Up! which has a good smothering of Clear Wink Of Stella. I then used the Papertrey Ink Banner Die to stamp the birthday sentiment onto, which is from Simply Said.

Next, I was inspired byĀ THISĀ card created by Jennifer McGuire to create my next card usingĀ Fun Flowers.

Again I put my MISTI tool to good use to stamp the layers of the flowers. I still require a little practice for the flower centres!

I used my Zig Clean Colour Brush pens to colour the flower which is fussy cut and adhered flat to the card. I love the vibrancy of the Zigs just used as a marker and I now have another thank you card to send šŸ™‚
So, that’s a quick look back at the April 2016 Release, I hope I have given you a little inspiration to dust off these sets if you have them šŸ˜‰ There is a small amount of 3 of the sets in stock on the website and I have planned some restocks to arrive in January.

I hope you will join me again tomorrow, when I will be taking a look back at the 2016 June Release. Until then, thank you for stopping by.

Hugs

Stamp Of The Week – All Occasion Sentiments #3

Hey!

Welcome back to the NEW feature here at Uniko, Stamp Of The Week (SOTW).Ā This week I am dusting off…Ā All Occasion Sentiments #3

AllOccasionSentiment3PP

I’m back this week dusting off another clear stamp set that came back in stock recently and one which is a go to sentiment set for those quick CAS cards!

2016SOTW56

Again todays card is another quick CAS card, with the Easter break over the beans are back at playgroups and now I am full of cold AGAIN šŸ™ which has meant not a lot of energy once they are in bed to create šŸ™ I’m hoping this one will be short lived!

Anyway, enough of my woes, back card! As you can see I have paired it with the newly released Fun Flowers again.

2016SOTW56a

My colours were based on the new ColourQ challenge colours seen HERE and below. I love the soft Spring like pallet.

cqc337

A little tip when using the Fun Flowers set it is easier to position and stamp/stack the flowers by starting with the smallest first and working up to the biggest.

Ok, that’s all from me just now. I will be back tomorrow with more to share. Don’t forget that this set is discountedĀ HEREĀ on the website this week.

Thanks for stopping by šŸ™‚

UnikoAprilRelease2

This is such a fun set to do paper piecing with, so that’s what I did šŸ˜‰ I was also inspired by a new to me challenge (Thanks Lindsey for the heads up about it) called the Sweet Stampin’ Challenge. Their current challenge HERE is paper piecing.

SSChallenge-1

UnikoAprilRelease2a

My next card uses Fun Flowers and was inspired by the newĀ TIME OUT ChallengeĀ seenĀ HEREĀ and below. This fortnight it is a Home Sweet Home challenge with an inspiration photo.

Normally an inspiration photo like this would stump me, but with the floral type patterns and colours were perfect to translate onto my card.

UnikoAprilRelease1

The flowers are stamp, coloured, fussy cut out and adhered to the side of another of the MFT Peek a Boo die cut frames. The sentiment is from Paradise Hummingbird which will be back in stock in the next week or so along with some other popular clear stamp sets.

UnikoAprilRelease1a
