Stamp Of The Week – Flower Power #1

Hey!

Stamp of the Week is a new feature here at Uniko.

It is one I have been wanting to do for some time & with the results of the recent survey I did it is something 69% of you wanted too. Even though every other month the DT and I revisit a previously released set, there are MANY more clear stamp sets that deserve some LOVE!

So, what is stamp of the week?

Well, each week I will be focusing on a different stamp set on this the Uniko website blog, I will be featuring a variety of cards, tags, projects and hopefully videos. The stamp of the week will be the main focus but I will also be showing how it pairs with other products from Uniko & other reputable companies. Along with all that the featured stamp set will be available in store at a discounted price for that week only.

Today I have one card two ways and they are the designs I originally had planned to share yesterday which wouldn’t work for me but today, no problem!

SOTW8

I decided to continue with my Christmas theme for my first card and combined Flower Power #1 with tiny stamps from two other Uniko clear stamp sets, Background Builders: Vines Winter Additions and Label Love: Christmas.

SOTW8a

I started out by drawing a faint pencil circle & then stamped the two sizes of outline holly leaves from Label Love: Christmas around the circle, then filling in gaps with the single solid holly leaf from Background Builders: Vines Winter Additions. The flowers are the largest of the trio of flowers stamped & fussy cut out. Again like yesterdays card HERE I used the holly berry stamp to add the flower detail to make them resemble poinsettias. The sentiment is from Simply Said Christmas & heat embossed in gold.

My next card is the same design but uses different colours & leaf stamps to create a more autumnal card…

SOTW8b

I followed the same steps for this card as I did for the first, I simply used the two matching but mirrored leaves from Background Builders: Vines Winter Additions. My colours were inspired by the current CAS – Colours & Sketches challenge colours seen HERE and below.

SOTW8c

This time instead of making the flowers to look like poinsettias I left them as flowers and added rhinestones to the centres for sparkle. I also added a few randomly around the wreath.

Ok, that’s all from me today, I hope I have inspired you a little more this evening. I will be back again tomorrow with more to share. Until then, thank you for stopping by today.

Do you ever have THOSE days? Those where everything you do or touch goes drastically wrong? Well, I have been having one of THOSE Mondays!

I was quite pleased with myself this morning, things seemed to be going well, beans fed, nappies changed, dressed & all set for playgroup & even not much fuss when I put their new shoes on (they’re not quite sure about shoes yet!) Grandma arrives and off we set for playgroup, then the THOSE starts, slow puncture on one of the pram tyres as we almost get to the playgroup venue, Grandma carries on & I run back to the house, only 10 minutes away to fetch a new inner tube & pump. To cut a not so long but possibly boring story short I got it fixed, the beans enjoyed playgroup & that was that. THEN from that incident things just didn’t go as planned, hence my lateness in posting today, poor quality photos and a project that I didn’t plan on!!

Anyway, here is my card for today…

SOTW7

Hopefully you can see that I have used the large solid flower from Flower Power #1 as a poinsettia. Yep, I am on a poinsettia kick at the minute! I also masked and stamped the larger flower from the trio contained in the set, stamping it in Pink Grapefruit for a little contrast…

SOTW7a

For the poinsettia centres I used the holly berry trio from Label Love: Christmas & Background Builders: Vines Winter Additions. The stamped sentiment is from Pure Florals: Poinsettia & I paired it with the SU! Christmas Greetings peace die.

I wanted to show you that just because the stamp set features a graphic flower & non Christmas themed sentiments it can still be used for a holiday card. However, with a simple colour & sentiment change it could be an everyday card too.

I hope I have inspired you a little this evening & I haven’t put you off with my ramblings and woes! I will be back tomorrow in a more timely fashion with my next project and post featuring this set. Until then, thank you for stopping by today.

Today is my last post using this stamp set as the Stamp Of The Week, I have had so much fun giving this set some love and showing you some of the many possibilities using it.

We started off the week HERE with the October Design Team Blog Hop & GIVEAWAY. You still have a few hours to comment along the hop to be in the chance of winning this set or a eGift Certificate to the same value.

Anyway, back to my project…
SOTW6

Today I dusted off a trio of Copic markers and did a spot of colouring. I found it very relaxing last night and enjoyed the time my head got to think and wander in the peacefulness!

I was inspired by a card I pinned recently HERE and HERE by the awesome Julia Altermann who is Guest Designing with us for our October challenge HERE. I simply LOVE the layout of Julia’s card & the fun tag flap, so I had a go myself! Another detail I adore and CASED is how Julia added the twine to the card front. Instead of embellishing sequins, as I didn’t quite have what I wanted (looks like a #PPP shopping spree is required!) I used SU! candy dots and tiny rhinestones. Also I haven’t quite mastered Julia’s dot effect, she is a pro at that.

SOTW6b

After colouring the poinsettia with my Copic markers I gave it a good douse of Wink Of Stella for that added sparkle & shine. I wish I had the patience to colour like this more as I really like the results.

SOTW6c

One last photo showing you the sentiment inside. I stamped it so that it can be seen when the flap is opened up…

SOTW6a

There are two challenges currently going that this card is perfect for. First up is the Happy Little Stampers challenge HERE which is to use a poinsettia & the second challenge is HERE with Addicted to CAS which is Sparkle! Be sure to check them both out.

As we are nearing the end of the week I have 2 cards to share with you using this set, both of which were really quick to make. Today I have focused on a couple of the sentiments in the set along with using only a section of the poinsettia. Just because it is a large outline flower, which may daunt you if you are not one for colouring, you can just use a small section of the flower.

For my first card I focused on the sentiment, PEACE * LOVE * JOY and paired it with one of my new Pretty Pink Posh mini tags & some NBUS Stampin’ Up! Christmas Greetings dies.

  SOTW5b

The current sketch over at CAS(E) this sketch! seen HERE and below was perfect for showcasing a sentiment from the set & a small section of the poinsettia. I wanted the sentiment to be the focus of the card and using the peace die cut in sparkle  card emphasises this.

CTS_145

I am LOVING the mini tags from Pretty Pink Posh, I especially like the size and the stitching detail. I decided not to add any further embellishment to the card, as I feel the sparkle of the die cut is enough impact.

SOTW5c

My next card is a little out of my comfort zone, in the fact that I have used designer paper! I very rarely use patterned papers even though I love pattern and colour. I think the reason is they daunt my love of CAS and I find it hard to keep the card CAS when I use them.

SOTW5

However, I was inspired by current sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches seen HERE and below and I was especially inspired by Jennifer Timko’s card HERE.

FMS208

With using such a bright colour of DP with the polka dot pattern, plus the poinsettia flower being detailed too I kept my use of colour to a minimum, stamping the sentiment & poinsettia in black & adding a small splash of gold. As you can see I only cut a small section of the poinsettia out, but it still keeps its form nicely. The sentiment is 2 stamps, but I masked & stamped ‘The Magic Of Christmas’ part to create a 3 lined sentiment.

SOTW5a

That’s all I have today, but I will be back tomorrow with the last of my projects using this set as Stamp Of The Week. This also means that if you want to purchase the set at the discounted price HERE you have until midnight 18th October BST to do so!

Enjoy your weekend!

I’m back a little later than planned today, but that’s kinda the story of my life at the moment with the beans. With one walking inside & one almost walking I need eyes in the back of my head & I could do with 10 pairs of hands!! To say life is crazy & the days zooming by is an understatement, but hey, it’s all good fun and I am enjoying it.

Anyway, back to business. Whilst the beans were napping this afternoon I got to making todays card…

SOTW4

It’s an idea I have had for a while & seen around blog land, but I haven’t had the right tools until this week when my Pretty Pink Posh order arrived 🙂 I couldn’t resist the mini tags die collection Paulina designed and of course some sequins made it into my basket too!

I wasn’t so sure about my card at first once it was assembled, it looked a bit ‘messy’. But now I have photographed it I am kinda liking it – LOL!

SOTW4a

I started out by stamping & embossing the poinsettia in white on some Real Red SU! card stock. I then placed my tag dies altogether on the embossed image & die cut them in one swoop! I then used the negative of my die to help me place, position and stamp the poinsettia on my base card in black ink.

SOTW4b

I then adhered the tags using foam adhesive to create this almost jigsaw like effect, with added dimension. A simple sentiment and a few sequins finished the card off.

Ok, that’s all from me today using this set, but I will be back again tomorrow with more to share. Before I go however, we have our monthly challenge HERE. This month it is all about geometrics and we have 2 awesome Guest Designers along with inspiration from the Design Team. Be sure to check it out & join in, there are prizes up for grabs!

Thanks for stopping by today.

Wow, we are up to day 3 of my first ‘Stamp of the Week’, this week is flying by for sure! Anyway, I hope you are enjoying this new feature here on the Uniko website blog and I am back today with another card featuring this set…

SOTW3

Today I have gone with more traditional Christmas colours though with a modern edge, the popular trio kraft, white & red. I started out by stamping and embossing the poinsettia in white onto a red circle die cut and mounted it onto a scalloped edge circle die. (These are Papertrey Ink Limitless Layers Dies). I then looped white sating ribbon & overlaid thinner red satin ribbon to peek from either side of the focal image.

SOTW3a

It isn’t normal for me to double mat layer or use so many layers on a card, but with keeping the design layout, colours and stamps used to a minimum you can still achieve a CAS look to your card. It is also very rare that I finish up the inside of my card, very lazy of me really and I was inspired by Deborah from the DT to change this as Deborah ALWAYS finishes the inside of her cards! So today I have…

SOTW3b

I kept it very simple and simply embossed the poinsettia in white on to a kraft CS layer, matted with white and added a simple sentiment stamped in black. I left plenty of room for my own message inside too.

Well that is all I have to share with you for today, I will be back again later in the week with more using this set 🙂 Until then, thank you for stopping by today.

I’m back today with another card using the Pure Florals: Poinsettia clear stamp set. This time I have opted for a non traditional colour scheme for my card…

SOTW2a

I am loving the current trend of gold embossing and decided I wanted to do that on todays card but I didn’t want it paired with traditional Christmas colours. So out cam my Zig Clean Color Brush Pens, a large acrylic block and a mini mister. To create the background I simply coloured my acrylic black with the trio of pens, misted and then applied it straight  onto my watercolour paper.

SOTW2

After leaving it to dry I then gold embossed the poinsettia & my chosen sentiment. I then placed it under a heavy book overnight and flat mounted it onto a white card base.

This would be a really quick & easy, last minute Christmas card idea & you could easily switch the background colours to more traditional ones if desired.

SOTW2b

Ok, that’s all I have to share with you today, but I will be back again tomorrow with more to share using this clear stamp set. I hope you are enjoying the feature here & what I am creating! Don’t forget we have the October DT Blog Hop & GIVEAWAY going on HERE and you could win this set!

It just so happens that Pure Florals: Poinsettia is the stamp set the DT and I are revisiting this month HERE on the other Uniko blog. So you will have TONS of inspiration using this set when the week is out AND you also have the chance to win the set or a Uniko eGift Certificate to the same value. How good is that?

I have to say I have really enjoyed dusting this set off and showing it some love, once I got started the ideas flowed beautifully. Here is todays card…

Class1

I was inspired by the current sketch seen below & HERE over at Freshly Made Sketches, it was simply perfect! I designed the Poinsettia to be large enough to be the focal point of the card but then I didn’t want it to be too large for a card or tag. I also designed it so that it can be fussy cut and layered. The DT have showcased this feature in the October DT Blog Hop HERE perfectly.

FMS207

As you can see I rotated the sketch 90 degrees counter clockwise, I felt it worked better that way for the poinsettia. One of my favourite colouring mediums is my Prismacolor pencils and gamsol blending solution. I first became aware of this from the awesome Jennifer McGuire back in 2008!

Here is a close up of the detail…

SOTW1

I love how the poinsettia really takes the focus of the card and is enhanced by the cut gridlines to create a story board effect. A current growing trend in the paper crafting world.

Ok, that’s all I have to share for today, I will be back again tomorrow with more using Pure Florals: Poinsettia. I do hope you will pop by again and enjoy this new feature here at Uniko.

 IntroNTIIc
As usual I have used a couple of challenges to spark my creativity, I seem to be lacking in mojo a little recently! Anyway, I decided to use the current Freshly Made Sketch seen HERE and below for the layout of my card. It is perfect for the large outline THANKS sentiment.
FMS Final 204-001
I also used the current CAS – Colours & Sketches challenge colours again as they were already on my desk. You can join in HERE and see the colours below.
CC&S color142-001
I started out by masking off a centre strip on a white CS panel & stamped a variety of leaves and swirls from the Natures Treasures II set (released tomorrow). I then stamped & glittered the large THANKS on a smaller panel of white CS & tied some embroidery floss around before adhering to the stamped panel with foam adhesive. Then mounted again onto a white card base.
