Uniko Challenge #50 – Celebrate with Optional Twist Gold

Hey!

Welcome to the November/December 2018 Uniko Challenge.  This month we have a brilliant theme for you – Celebrate, with the optional twist of GOLD.

Although Christmas may be the immediate thing that comes to mind at this time of the year, Celebrate encompasses many other festivals or occasions, so we hope you’ll find it a really easy theme to play along with.

We’ve the wonderfully talented and awesome Mugdha from craftomania joining us as our Guest Designer for this challenge. If you’ve never visited her blog before you’re in for a real treat, her cards are amazing!

Guest Designer – Mugdha

Here is how I was inspired by the theme…

USC#50

I decided to make a celebratory birthday card and ‘tried’ to keep it masculine! I combine Balloon Bash with the recently restocked Birthday Sentiments clear stamp sets.

USC#50a

I stamped and embossed the large celebrate with gold embossing powder and then stamped the smaller sentiments in VersaFine Onyx Black ink. The balloons are stamped in Altenew Aqualicious and Teal Cave ink and I added some stamped stars which I have also embossed in gold. I fussy cut the balloons, adhered the circle balloon with foam adhesive and used a fine liner to draw in the strings.
USC#50b

I hope I have inspired you to join in on the challenge! If you need a few more ideas the DT have some wonderful inspiration too…

WINNERS of the Birthday Treasure Hunt, Random Prizes & more have been announced HERE.

How about some inspiration using a few of the new products…

FebRD1
It probably isn’t a surprise to anyone that has been following the release celebrations that the new Kindness Blooms clear stamp set is a new favourite of mine 😉 The ideas using this new loopy bloom have been free flowing!
For this first card I decided to pair both sizes of the loopy bloom with the Large Background Scattered Polka Dots, which I have stamped in VersaMark and heat embossed in detail white embossing powder.
FebRD1b
The sentiment is just one of the mix and match possibilities contained in the mini clear stamp set and I have stamped it onto a strip of white card and adhered it to the card base using foam adhesive. I’ve finished the design off with some new Stampin’ Up! self adhesive sequins.
FebRD1a
For my next card I decided to create a more masculine style card using Kindness Blooms paired with the new Birthday Sentiments clear stamp set…
FebRd2
As you can see I used the stamen burst stamp and the small polka dot from Kindness Blooms and simply by using primary colours and keeping the design CAS I have achieved a masculine look.
FebRD2a
I wish I had more to share using the other new products being released, but creative time has been limited 🙁 I will be sharing more over the coming days though using all of the new products.
However, I know that the Design Team have been super busy and much more creative than me and have a wealth of inspiration using all of the new products to share with you!

Be sure to comment along the hop for your chance to win the ENTIRE Release!! You have until Midnight (GMT) Saturday 10th March 2018 to comment and the winner will be announced Sunday 11th March 2018.

Happy Hopping!

Introducing… Birthday Sentiments, Background Blocks Party Confetti & Balloon Bash Stencil

Hey!

Welcome to the first day of the product introductions. This is the exciting bit, where you get to see the sneak peeks in action!

Today myself and the Design Teams are introducing 3 of the February / 6th Birthday Release products, Birthday Sentiments, Background Blocks Party Confetti & Balloon Bash Stencil. As you can see by the titles, they all have a birthday / celebratory theme to them.
To start the hop and find all the Design Team links (in case you get lost along the way, as the DT has grown) click HERE.
Now how about a look at these stamps in action…
First up I thought I would share a card using the Balloon Bash Stencil and just one of the mix and match sentiments from Birthday Sentiments. If you like the previously released Festive Sentiments, then I think you might just LOVE this sentiment set too 😉
IntroBalloonStencil1
I started out with some smooth watercolour card, I use The Langton Hot Pressed (Smooth) Grain Satiné. I selected 5 colours of Distress Oxide in to form a rainbow effect. I then simply applied the colour through one of the balloon images in the stencil starting from Picked Raspberry, Spiced Marmalade, Twisted Citron, Peacock Feathers & Wilted Violet. I then spritzed the card with some water and dabbed the excess to achieve the mottled oxide effect on the balloons.
IntroBalloonStencil1a
The balloon strings are stamped from the previously released Balloon Bash clear stamp set and then I used my MISTI tool to stamp the sentiment in VersaFine Onyx Black ink a couple of times to get a nice smooth, solid impression.
Next I decided to ink up Background Blocks Party Confetti as I wanted to give my new go to technique a whirl on it! I simply love the direct to stamp colouring with water based markers. And this stamp simply calls for a rainbow of colours, don’t you think?!
IntroBBPartyConfetti1
For this card I placed the Background Block inside my small MISTI stamping tool and chose to colour the block with my Stampin’ Up! Brights marker collection. I simply started with a colour and just randomly coloured the elements in the design and simply repeated this for each colour until the block was all coloured.
IntroBBPartyConfetti1a
I then ‘huff’ over the stamp to moisten the ink. As The process is quite time consuming, the ink can dry onto the stamp, so you need to do this before you stamp or you will get a dull stamped image. But I think the results are worth the effort! After I had stamped the image I trimmed it down and adhered it to a Tempting Turquoise card base. I added sentiments from Birthday Sentiments and embellished with a yummy cupcake from Celebrate With Cake.
Before I removed the Background Blocks Party Confetti from the MISTI tool, I decided to spritz the image with some water and stamped the design onto some watercolour card, this formed the base for my next card design…
IntroBBPartyConfetti2
Again, such a cool effect and the colours are a little more muted this time, with being watered down. This time I embellished the card with a duo of stamped balloons from the Balloon Bash clear stamp set and another mix and match sentiment from Birthday Sentiments.
That’s all I have created to share with you today! Be sure to hop on over to sweet Carol to see the creativity there. If you get lost along the way here is the list of Design Team Blog Links…

Introducing… Block Party Birthday

YAY!

I’m SO happy that you have stopped by today, as here at Uniko preparations for the February & 5th Birthday product release are well underway. We have had all the sneak peeks at the 5 clear stamp sets being released and NOW it is time for the Design Team and I to introduce them to you.

Today starting over HERE we are introducing a new to Uniko style of stamp called Block Party. The first stamp in this series is appropriately named Block Party Birthday.
I was having a ball with this stamp set over the weekend and made a few cards to share with you. I seem to have gone down more of a masculine route too with the colours and styles. This stamp also lent itself to me stepping away from my usual CAS style for more of a mix media styled cards…

First up I decided to go for a chalkboard effect (looks like I wasn’t the only one). I started by stamping the image twice (using the MISTI tool) with VersaMark ink. I then heat embossed it with Cosmic Shimmer Detail True White EP. I then ran my white ink pad down all four sides of the one layer card and I also brushed some white ink across the panel to achieve a dustier/slightly distress look.

Next I was inspired by DT member Deborah’s inspiration post HERE and FINALLY dusted off my Brusho’s! These have been stored away for over 6 years, I last used them at Uni! Anyway, this is the result…

IntroBPbirthday2

{CLICK Photo for a Closer Look}

I started with an A5 piece of watercolour card and I used a large brush to cover the paper with water. I then chose a selection of Brusho colours, Lime Green, Ost. Blue, Crimson and Violet and using a smaller brush I simply lightly flicked the colour onto the paper and let the water work the magic. After I added all the colours I did go back a flick some more water randomly to make some of the colours mix better.

After leaving it to completely dry I again used my MISTI to stamp the image in VersaFine Onyx Black ink a few times to get a crisp image. I am super pleased with how this turned out and will definitely be using them again soon 😉

Lastly I decided to go for another rainbow card…

IntroBPbirthday4

{CLICK Photo for a Closer Look}

For this one I dusted off my Mini Distress Inks and simply inked the stamp up yellow to turquoise and letting the colours overlap. So quick, easy and a multitude of colour options!

Stamp Of The Week – Celebrate With Cake

Anyone for third helpings of cake?!

Time for a NEW Stamp Of The Week (SOTW) and this week I am dusting off… Celebrate With CakeCelebrateWithCakepp

As a CAS girl at heart and that relates to most of my life (apart from the beans – LOL!) in card making and paper crafts I rarely reach for the patterned papers. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE pattern, colour and pretty papers. I just find them daunting to use without over cluttering my card and keep my card CAS.

Anyway, I am ‘trying’ to overcome my fear of using patterned papers and so decided to give it ago on tonights card…

2016SOTW67

I have opted for a simple pattern, however it still spoke summer to me with the fresh yellow and white. It reminded me of a Redcar Lemon Top ice cream hence my lemon frosting on my cupcake!

2016SOTW67a

The cupcake case is stamped in Hero Arts Mint to Green Ombré ink and the yellow frosting is VersaMagic Mango Madness, with a light dusting of Wink Of Stella. Even though the card seems to have a lot going on, I have tried to keep the focal point simple with limited embellishments.

I’m pretty pleased with how my card turned out, but I still need a little more practice and confidence using patterned papers I think!

Ok, that’s all from me tonight, I still have a TON of work to do and a class on Saturday to prepare for. I think I am probably one of the only people in the UK not watching some kind of sport on the TV tonight!

Anyway, I will be back tomorrow with more inspiration featuring this set and don’t forget that this set is discounted HERE on the website this week.

Thanks for stopping by 🙂

Stamp Of The Week – Celebrate With Cake

Anyone for MORE cake?!

Time for a NEW Stamp Of The Week (SOTW) and this week I am dusting off… Celebrate With CakeCelebrateWithCakepp

Todays card came together pretty quickly this afternoon whilst the beans were eventually napping. I had a cake top already prepared from last night so all there was to do was decide on a layout and elements to mix with the cupcake.

Week 205 - Chevron

When I saw the new challenge over at CASology HERE, which this week is to use chevrons I thought, why not, chevrons could be pretty cool with a cupcake!

And this is what I came up with…

2016SOTW66

I started by stamping the cupcake case in Hero Arts Pink to Red Ombré ink and then masked it to stamp the chevrons from Background Builders: Chevrons (Retired) in SU! Going Grey ink.

2016SOTW66a

The chevrons are then lightly watercolored, as I didn’t use watercolour CS. I used my Zig Clean Color Brush Markers to do this and added a light coating of Wink Of Stella over the top too. I then adhered the glittered cupcake frosting from yesterday, stamped the sentiment and embellished with a few SU! It’s My Party Enamel Dots.

Because I wasn’t totally sure where this card was going, I am pretty pleased with how it turned out and I think the chevrons work well with the design.

As you can’t have a party without CAKE, I am entering my card into the challenge over at Gobal Design Project. Their challenge HERE is a theme…

GDP043

Ok, that’s all from me tonight, I have a TON of work to do and a class on Saturday to prepare for along with a workout in the gym!

I will be back tomorrow with more inspiration featuring this set and don’t forget that this set is discounted HERE on the website this week.

Introducing… Celebrate With Cake

Hey!

I’m super happy you have stopped by today, as today the Design Team and I are introducing the first of the mini April Release clear stamp sets.

Hopefully you have hopped here from the Uniko Blogspot blog HERE. If not be sure to pop on over to see more from myself and the Design Team using Celebrate With Cake.

Lets have a look at my card…

Class6

My starting point for my card was when I saw the current Color Throwdown challenge colours seen HERE and below. I thought they could challenge me (which they did) and also make a cheery celebration card.

swatch387

My tag card is pretty simple, I stamped the outline cupcake case in VersaMagic Red Magic ink onto the tag and then the solid cupcake top in VersaMagic Aquatic Splash onto a smaller separate piece of white CS and fussy cut it out. I also added the star sprinkles to the cupcake top using SU! Pumpkin Pie ink.

Class6a

I embellished the tag with some Papertrey Ink Harvest Gold satin ribbon, SU! Aqua Mist Bakers Twine, the sentiment from the set and a trio of tiny rhinestones.

That’s all from me just now showcasing this set, I will be back later today with my Stamp Of The Week card using I LOVE Coffee. Until then, be sure to stop by HERE for more inspiration using this set.

Thanks for stopping by.
