Okay, enough chit chat, how about some inspiration…

UnikoBirthdayLinky1

I dusted off a couple of sets for this card, Background Builders: Seeing Stars and Balloon Bash. I used my MISTI tool to stamp both the diagonal ombre star stripes and the ombre balloon. I drew the ballon string with a fine liner as I wanted a nice crisp string! The sentiment is from Simply Said.

UnikoBirthdayLinky1a

The layout of my card was is from this weeks Freshly Made Sketches challenge seen HERE and below. This is one of my favourite challenges to join in on when I can :)

Next I wanted to try out a new glimmer paste that arrived in the post, Nuvo Glimmer Paste – Moonstone. My goodness, this stuff is lush! Just look at the shine…

UnikoBirthdayLinky2

This time as I wanted to use the paste through a Uniko Stencil I used the Balloon Bash stencil. I started out with the round pink balloon and used Altenew Cherry Blossom collection inks to achieve the ombre effect.

UnikoBirthdayLinky2b

I then masked off the pink balloon to layer the larger balloon behind inked up in Altenew Sweet Dreams collection. I then went back and placed the stencil over the smaller round balloon to

FMS Final 373-001apply the glimmer paste. Now, usually I struggle with applying pastes on a large surface, but this stuff… this stuff glides on beautifully!

UnikoBirthdayLinky2a

This time I was inspired to join in on another favourite challenge, AAA Cards HERE and seen below. For this challenge they want you to use a third of your card (so leaving a third of your card with white space) & an optional twist of masking.#132

That’s all I have to share with you today, thanks for stopping by and joining in on the fun!

Uniko Challenge #50 – Celebrate with Optional Twist Gold

Hey!

Welcome to the November/December 2018 Uniko Challenge.  This month we have a brilliant theme for you РCelebrate, with the optional twist of GOLD.

Although Christmas may be the immediate thing that comes to mind at this time of the year, Celebrate encompasses many other festivals or occasions, so we hope you’ll find it a really easy theme to play along with.

We’ve the wonderfully talented and awesome Mugdha¬†from craftomania¬†joining us as our Guest Designer for this challenge. If you’ve never visited her blog before you’re in for a real treat, her cards are amazing!

Guest Designer – Mugdha

Here is how I was inspired by the theme…

USC#50

I decided to make a celebratory birthday card and ‘tried’ to keep it masculine! I combine Balloon Bash with the recently restocked Birthday Sentiments clear stamp sets.

USC#50a

I stamped and embossed the large celebrate with gold embossing powder and then stamped the smaller sentiments in VersaFine Onyx Black ink. The balloons are stamped in Altenew Aqualicious and Teal Cave ink and I added some stamped stars which I have also embossed in gold. I fussy cut the balloons, adhered the circle balloon with foam adhesive and used a fine liner to draw in the strings.

I hope I have inspired you to join in on the challenge! If you need a few more ideas the DT have some wonderful inspiration too…

Introducing… Birthday Sentiments, Background Blocks Party Confetti & Balloon Bash Stencil

Hey!

Welcome to the first day of the product introductions. This is the exciting bit, where you get to see the sneak peeks in action!

Today myself and the Design Teams are introducing 3 of the February / 6th Birthday Release products, Birthday Sentiments, Background Blocks Party Confetti & Balloon Bash Stencil. As you can see by the titles, they all have a birthday / celebratory theme to them.
To start the hop and find all the Design Team links (in case you get lost along the way, as the DT has grown) click HERE.
Now how about a look at these stamps in action…
First up I thought I would share a card using the Balloon Bash Stencil and just one of the mix and match sentiments from Birthday Sentiments. If you like the previously released Festive Sentiments, then I think you might just LOVE this sentiment set too ūüėČ
IntroBalloonStencil1
I started out with some smooth watercolour card, I use The Langton Hot Pressed (Smooth) Grain Satiné. I selected 5 colours of Distress Oxide in to form a rainbow effect. I then simply applied the colour through one of the balloon images in the stencil starting from Picked Raspberry, Spiced Marmalade, Twisted Citron, Peacock Feathers & Wilted Violet. I then spritzed the card with some water and dabbed the excess to achieve the mottled oxide effect on the balloons.
IntroBalloonStencil1a
The balloon strings are stamped from the previously released Balloon Bash clear stamp set and then I used my MISTI tool to stamp the sentiment in VersaFine Onyx Black ink a couple of times to get a nice smooth, solid impression.
Next I decided to ink up Background Blocks Party Confetti as I wanted to give my new go to technique a whirl on it! I simply love the direct to stamp colouring with water based markers. And this stamp simply calls for a rainbow of colours, don’t you think?!
IntroBBPartyConfetti1
For this card I placed the Background Block inside my small MISTI stamping tool and chose to colour the block with my Stampin’ Up! Brights marker collection. I simply started with a colour and just randomly coloured the elements in the design and simply repeated this for each colour until the block was all coloured.
IntroBBPartyConfetti1a
I then ‘huff’ over the stamp to moisten the ink. As¬†The process is quite time consuming, the ink can dry onto the stamp, so you need to do this before you stamp or you will get a dull stamped image. But I think the results are worth the effort!¬†After I had stamped the image I trimmed it down and adhered it to a Tempting Turquoise card base. I added sentiments from Birthday Sentiments and embellished with a yummy cupcake from Celebrate With Cake.
Before I removed the¬†Background Blocks Party Confetti from the MISTI tool, I decided to spritz the image with some water and stamped the design onto some watercolour card, this formed the base for my next card design…
IntroBBPartyConfetti2
Again, such a cool effect and the colours are a little more muted this time, with being watered down. This time I embellished the card with a duo of stamped balloons from the Balloon Bash clear stamp set and another mix and match sentiment from Birthday Sentiments.
That’s all I have created to share with you today! Be sure to hop on over to sweet Carol to see the creativity there. If you get lost along the way here is the list of Design Team Blog Links…

Week 259 - Balloon

How about some inspiration using the cue word…

Appropriately I reached for Uniko Balloon Bash clear stamp set and I always like to pair the balloons with some kind of background. For this card I decided upon Background Blocks Horizontal Stripe and a sentiment from Happy Succulents.
Having browsed a trend magazine last week, the ombr√© trend is sticking around a little longer and is such a fun technique/colour way for this striped background. Altenew cube inks are perfect in achieving an ombr√© colour effect too. I’ve had the blue collection for a while but it’s not one I reach for often, so decided to use them for this card.

I used my MISTI tool for placement & stamping of the background, so I was able to achieve good solid lines by repeatedly inking and stamping. I then stamped the ‘happy’ sentiment and partial balloon string, so that my balloon would be anchored.
The balloon is stamped & fussy cut out, with a rather good covering of Clear Wink Of Stella. I opened a new pen and it kinda flowed out a little quick & too much! Oh well, you can never have too much sparkle! I added a few SU! Glitter Enamel Dots to finish the design off.
That’s all I have to share with you today and your next stop on the hop is Hannelie Bester from Desert Diva, who is sure to WOW you with her card!

Uniko Sponsors CASology!

Hey!

Wow… I made it back, second evening in a row! Plus, as you can see by the title of the post I have some happy news to share, in that Uniko is super proud to be sponsoring the challenge over at CASology HERE this week.

Week 246 - Season

The theme for this weeks challenge is Season and there lots of different ways you can interpret this cue word.

This is how I was inspired…

Another of the recent restocks in the Uniko store is Decorative Doilies The Hands Of Time, an oldie set but definitely a goodie! So I decided to literally dust my set off and give it some fresh inky love.

UnikoSponsorsCASology1a

{Click Photo for a Closer Look}

I had Spring in mind for my chosen season and so I chose some soft pastel colours to stamp the four smallest doilies from the set. I used Altenew Buttercream, Mountain Mist and Rose Quartz along with Lawn Fawn Manatee. I added a couple of stamped doilies in VersaFine Onyx Black to balance the sentiment from Originally Organic. The stamped trio of dots is from Balloon Bash and I added a trio of Stampin’ Up! enamel dots to add a little subtle dimension and interest.

I hope I have inspired you to join in on the fun? If you need a little more incentive the CASology Design Team have a wonderful array of seasonal inspiration over HERE too. You will also find the link up and prize info over there too ūüėČ

I hope to see you in the gallery!
