Introducing… Background Blocks Grid and Background Blocks Diagonal Stripe

 Hello & Happy Tuesday!

I am so glad you have popped by today as it is the first of the July 2021 Release product introductions. Hopefully you have hopped on over from HERE, the start of the hop.

Today myself and my awesome Brand Ambassadors have an inspiring blog hop and we are introducing Background Blocks Grid and Background Blocks Diagonal Stripe. I am delighted to be expanding this series of stamps with another couple of simple, but fun designs.

First up, let me introduce you to Background Blocks Diagonal Stripe…

For this card I used my stamping tool, masking and a rainbow of colours to get this fun effect. It was a little time consuming, but the results are fun. I couldn’t resist giving you a peek some other things being introduced later this week.

An addition to the Simply Said Blocks series and do you recognise the flowers?

Next up is an abstract kind of card using the Background Block Grid. This was another pretty time consuming design, but again I think it is super striking.

I randomly stamped the block on my base card and then I coloured in alternate squares to create a checkerboard / gingham pattern. I added the BIG & BOLD Happy die cut and another new Simply Said Blocks III sentiment.

That’s all I have to share today using these two new stamps, but there is so much more inspiration on the Brand Ambassador blogs. Be sure to hop along and leave a comment. I will be randomly selecting comments left in the lead up to Release Day on 25th July to win Uniko goodies!

I hope you pop back tomorrow for the next of the product introductions.

June 2021 Stencil Release, Brand Ambassador Blog Hop & GIVEAWAY!

Happy Sunday & Welcome to Uniko’s June 2021Mini Stencil Reveal & Release!

Hopefully you have enjoyed the Sneak Peeks and Introductions to the new products I have shared with you over the past few days. I’ve certainly had fun playing with all the new goodies 😉

All of the NEW products are available for purchase over HERE on the website. An earlier release time then previous releases.

Hopefully you have come on over from HERE, the start of the hop on the Uniko Blogspot Blog. Over there I have formally introduced all the new stencils.

Just a mini stencil release this month, but I am sure if you’ve been joining in with the introduction blog hops, you will agree that it packs a creative punch. In case you need a bit more convincing and inspiration as to how they can be used, be sure to join in on the blog hop.

Don’t forget to comment along the way, as there will be one lucky comment from those left selected to win ALL the stencils released today. You have until 10pm BST Sunday 27th June 2021 to leave a comment. Winner will be announced on the blog on or around the 28th June 2021.

Now, let’s get to the creative inspiration you’ve come here for!

For my first card today I wanted to used the Pure Florals Rose. I had this idea of colouring all the petals in a rainbow of colours. I’d ordered myself the Altenew Detail Blending Brushes and wanted to give them ago. I have to say they are really good and I mainly used the smallest to apply colour to each of the petals.

I then had the idea to turn to a technique to be able to ink the background black, called trapped ink.

Basically once you have applied colour to each of the petals and it has dried. Wipe the stencil over, keep it in place & then using your VersaMark ink pad sponge the ink directly to all of the coloured areas. Remove the stencil and apply clear embossing powder & heat set.

Then directly apply black ink all over the card. The embossing powder will resist the black ink and once all areas are covered you can buff the embossed areas to remove any black. As you can see my embossing wasn’t perfect in a couple areas as the black stayed. But overall it’s a neat technique.

Next I kept things fairly simple for a butterfly card…

For this I wanted to focus solely on the detail stencil of the butterfly. I started by creating a blended background. I used Distress Oxide inks in Festive Berries, Picked Raspberry, Spiced Marmalade and Mustard Seed.

I then placed my detail butterfly stencil and used Nuvo Black Diamond Glimmer Paste through it. Once dry I used the silhouette solid stencil to position and draw in the remainder of the attena.

Lastly for today I decided to do a masculine card & also make a Father’s Day card, seeing as it is Father’s Day today!

This card is based on a similar Father’s Day card I made HERE. This time instead of using the Explosion! Additions stamps, I used the Stencil – Explosion! I also tried my hand at some double stencilling too.

I started by ink blending through the largest explosion on the stencil and before moving onto the next colour on my card, I placed the Mixed Mini Geometric stencil over the top and blended a slightly darker shade.

I really love the effect and will be trying this technique some more. I finished off the card with sentiments from Explosion! Additions and also the word DAD spelled out using Alphabet Outlined.

I hope you have enjoyed my cards today and I am sure you will enjoy the hop too. All the stencils are now available to purchase HERE.

Thank you so much for joining in on the fun here at Uniko 🙂

Two for Tuesday – Masculine Rainbow Stripes!

Happy Tuesday!

It’s a wild, wet and windy day here in the North East of the UK and feels like summer has been and gone 🙁

We’ve only a week left of the school holidays too, which leaves me with a mix of emotions. As much as I want The Beans to go back and get back into some form of normal routine, I am going to miss having them around again!

Today they have been playing nicely with Lego and gadgets in their playroom, which meant I had a little time in between housework to finish these two cards!

From a recent poll over on Instagram, asking if you wanted to see masculine or feminine cards, masculine came out on top, so that’s what I have started with. Though they do have a little bit of a feminine flair ‘maybe’ with my rainbow colour scheme.

I have a few ‘go to’ clear stamps when it comes to making masculine cards these are the Background Blocks and Background Builder stamps that are often more geometric in theme.

For this first card I have used a favourite of mine which recently came back in stock, Background Builders Wonky Stripes. This is such a fun and focal point stamp that all it needs is a little simple accessorising. Like I have done here with the balloons from Balloon Bash and the Celebrate sentiment from Simply Said Blocks.

I have a ‘thing’ for rainbow colours at the moment and I couldn’t resist using them, even though I knew I was making a masculine card. I do have a few male friends that love a rainbow!

I continued my theme of rainbows and stripes for my second card. This time I used the Background Block Wonky Stripes to create an angled strip up the side of my card.

For this I decided to accent with the striped stars from Background Builders Seeing Stars and the Happy Birthday sentiment from Simply Said Blocks.

That’s all from me today. Hopefully I will find some more creative time this week, I need to make two 6th Birthday cards for The Beans! Can you believe they turn 6 next week?? Where have those 6 years gone?!

Thanks for stopping by & stay safe.

Happy Birthday, HB2U

Hey & Happy Thursday!

I hope everyone is well and getting some creative time in. I am managing to get a little crafty time here and there 😉 and had time Monday to start making this card which I finished yesterday, but only got time to properly photograph today! The joys of working from home and being a mummy 😉

With a restock of the popular Art Deco theme stamps I released back in February arriving in the studio the other week, I have been itching to ink up the Background Block Arts Dècoratifs again.

This is such a fun stamp and suitable for so many occasions and for feminine and masculine cards alike. I actually enjoy making masculine cards if I have the supplies to do them and I find geometric styled products lend themselves perfectly for masculine cards.

I set to stamping the background block to cover my base card and then used a selection of cool grey Copic markers to colour in a random selection of the geometric shapes in the design.

I then used the ‘Happy Birthday’ sentiment from our very popular Simply Said Blocks clear stamp set and the Alphabet Outlined clear stamp set to create the HB2U, which I added some bright colours to, so that they stand out from the background.

I hope I have given you some more inspiration for making those pesky masculine cards!

Thanks for stopping by today.

Restocks & a Card!

Hey!

Happy Tuesday, I hope your week has begun well. I’ve been busy here at Uniko HQ getting a lot of the requested restocks ordered and at the weekend the stencil restocks arrived, YAY!

The following stencils are back in stock… Mid Century Modern, Mid Century Modern Squares, Natures Treasures II, Party Confetti, Winter Foliage, Seeing Stars and Abstract Triangles.

AND I am happy that a bunch of clear stamp restocks will be arriving in the studio on 28th July. These include the following… Alphabet Outlined, Anniversaire Arts Décoratifs, Background Blocks Arts Décoratifs, Background Builders Arts Décoratifs, Happy Days, Just Because, Explosion! Explosion Additions, Background Blocks Mid Century Modern, Background Blocks Wonky Stripes and Kindness Blooms. They are all NOW available on backorder for those who want to get their orders in 😉

So with all these happy restocks arriving and arriving soon, I was inspired to create…

For the layout of my card I was inspired by the sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches seen HERE and below.

It has been a while since I’ve inked up the Mid Century Modern Squares stencil, so I decided to give it an outing and thought mixing the squares with the triangle layout would give a fun eye catching impact.

I used masking tape to mask the triangle sections one at a time and then simply inked through the stencil with Altenew Aqualicious ink. I then added the HB2U sentiment using the Alphabet Outlined clear stamp set. Which is available on backorder! I stamped the letters using Catherine Pooler Midnight ink, coloured with Copic Markers and fussy cut the letters out.

A fairly quick but fun design that is perfectly suited for those men in our lives!

Thank you for all the lovely orders, it’s Post Office run day this afternoon! I hope I have given you some crafty inspo to dust off those stencils and have fun!

Thanks for stopping by today.

Uniko Challenge #57 Anything Goes & Optional Twist Cool Winter Colours

Hey!

Welcome to the January/February 2020 Uniko Challenge.

We’re kicking off 2020 with an Anything Goes theme and have added in the optional twist of Cool Winter Colours for those of you that like to challenge yourselves even more.

We’ve the amazingly awesome Trina P joining us as our Guest Designer and I know you’ll adore her awesome card.

How fabulous is that! Do pop over to her blog and let her know how clever she is – HERE

In January & February I have a few male birthdays & so I thought with the cool winter colours twist of the challenge I would make a masculine birthday card.

For my blues I chose the Altenew Sweet Dreams colour collection of inks and blended them onto my card base using my Taylored Expressions blender brushes. I do love how handy the blender brushes are and seem to be able to control them a little better than the standard foam pad tool!

I kept my design simple by using the Background Block Graffiti Texture and stamping it in Teal Cave ink and the sentiment from Simply Said Blocks stamped in the darkest shade Galactic Stream. The sentiment is adhered to the card using foam adhesive.

Be sure to check out all the inspiration from the Brand Ambassadors HERE on the challenge post & you will also find the link up to the challenge there too.

Need a little more incentive to join in? How about some prizes!

Crafty Hugs,

Uniko Sponsors AAA Cards

Happy Weekend!

I hope your weekend has been lovely so far and you have had some creative time. If you need a little inspiration, why not join in on the new challenge over at AAA Cards.

This fortnight I am super happy to let you know that Uniko is the sponsor for the challenge. You could win an in stock clear stamp set (any value) from the Uniko website – how good does that sound?

The challenge this fortnight the challenge is ‘Made in Minutes’, with an optional twist of ‘Ink Blending’. You can find the challenge HERE and link up.

And here is what I have made in minutes, just over 7 to be exact & I’ve posted a photo of my timer too below!

The key to making a card in minutes is to have an idea of the layout you want to use, you need all the stamps, colours of ink and card cut to size and ready on your desk.

This is often the hardest part of card making, knowing what to use. I don’t know about you, but the more choice of supplies you have, the harder it is to know what to use or make!

When I find myself in a situation like this, I look at my stamps and see what I haven’t used or inked up for a while. Background Builders: Seeing Stars is a stamp set I’ve not inked up in a long time and I thought it would pair nicely with a sentiment from Birthday Sentiments.

Here is how long my card took me to make once I had everything figured out and ready to go…

I hope I have given you a little inspiration to join in on the fun over at AAA Cards. Until next time, thanks for stopping by & I look forward to seeing you in the AAA Cards Challenge Gallery!

Hugs

Sailing Through The Week Like…

Happy Hump Day!

Who’s sailing smoothly through the week and who’s like me and sailing choppy waters?!

I can’t believe how much time has passed since I last shared inspiration here *gasps* with horror! Thanks for hanging in there with me in my absence recently. I promise I have been a busy bee behind the scenes 😉

Anyway, how about some Nautical Treasures inspiration…

Sailing1

I’ve had these cards made & photographed for probably a month now! The last few weeks of the summer holidays here in the UK got a little busy with family visiting and day trips out. Then The Beans turned 5 *GASP* on the 2nd September and they started BIG school (full time) on the 3rd!

It hasn’t quite been smooth sailing as we all adjust to a new routine and to top it off this past weekend the dreaded back to school flu/cold bugs hit ME!!

Anyway, this masculine duo was inspired by my awesome DT member Jane. I love it when DT members think outside of the box when it comes to alternative uses for products and using the Tiger Print Stencil was Jane’s genius idea. You can see Jane’s inspiration HERE.

Sailing1bSo when I needed some waves for my cards I instantly thought to recreate Jane’s idea, which I have done for both designs.

Sailing1c

Hopefully I’ve given you a little mid week inspiration to look at your crafty stash to see how else it can be used and all being well, my next post won’t be as long a wait as this one!

Have a wonderful Wednesday!

Hugs

Current BEST Seller!

Hello & Happy Monday!

Thank you to everyone who has made the July 2019 Release a fabulous one, thank you for all your awesome orders and comments over the weekend. All orders that were placed have been shipped today 🙂 there is one happy small business owner in the studio this evening – THANK YOU!

As I was busy packing orders over the weekend I was amazed at how many people were still ordering this little stamp from the May 2019 Release, Background Blocks Mid Century Modern

BackgroundBlocksMidCenturyModernPP

So it got me looking at the stats on the website and this little stamp has been the best seller for THREE months! I never thought such a little design would prove to be so popular. It makes me happy that it does as it is a fave of mine too 😉

This in turn inspired me to ink it up again…

UnikoBest1

The layout for this card was inspired by the current sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches seen HERE and below, plus a mix of supplies I had already stamped on my desk!

FMS Final 398-001

I partially inked up the Background Block Mid Century Modern stamp with Altenew Gray Denim ink. I then stamped the new ‘Have a Perfect Day’ sentiment from Sentiments Outlined and to make it stand out a little more I decided to fill in the sentiment with a black fine liner.

UnikoBest1a

To finish the design I arranged a cluster of tropical flowers and foliage from Paradise and Paradise Leaves. It turned out a little more ‘busy’ than I had planned in my head, but I still like the end result.

Lastly for today I have a super CAS card using this background…

UnikoBest2

The layout of this card is from the current sketch over at CAS Colours & Sketches seen HERE and below and I love how I unexpectedly made a more masculine card to show the versatility of this fun background.

CC&S_2019-07-23_#331

I’ve used minimal supplies for this card, VersaFine Onyx Black ink to stamp the background. VersaMark & WOW Opaque White EP to stamp the mixed sentiment from Simply Said and the recently released WILD clear stamp sets. And to finish the design I added some Liquid Mercury Nuvo Drops to three of the dots in the pattern.

UnikoBest2a

That’s all I have to share with you today and I hope you have enjoyed this little snippet of knowledge and inspiration about and using this little background stamp. I will be back tomorrow with some more cards using the NEW RELEASE, but if you’ve not checked out the Release Blog Hop, be sure to hop on by HERE to the start.

Until tomorrow, thank you for stopping by.

Hugs

Re-introducing Nautical Treasures AND Introducing Background Blocks Nautical Stripes, Anchors & Fleur De Lis Stencils

Hey!

Welcome to Day 3 of the July 2019 Release product introductions.

Hopefully you have hopped on over from our lovely Guest Designer Keren’s blog HERE. If you missed the start of the hop and introduction to todays products, you can catch up HERE.

Today we are re-introducing a previously released and retired clear stamp set, Nautical Treasures. Plus, I have designed some new products to go perfectly with it! Introducing the newest Background Block, Nautical Stripes and 2 new stencil designs, Anchors and Fleur De Lis.

Today I have a couple of clean & simple nautical inspired cards to share with you. First up I have one pairing the new Background Block Nautical Stripes with the sail boat from the previously released and retired Nautical Treasures.

July19intro12

This card was really quick to make. I stamped the Background Blocks Nautical Stripes in Altenew Desert Night ink. I always use my MISTI for this, so I can repeat stamp for a perfect impression, especially with the more solid stripes in the design.

July19intro12a

The sail boat is stamped in Catherine Pooler Midnight ink, fussy cut out and I added a stencilled anchor to the sail. The sentiment is from Nautical Treasures.

Lastly for today I have this quick and easy card…

July19intro11

This time I decided to use the thick stripe from Background Builders Classics, which we introduced on Monday. Again I used Altenew Desert Night ink and my MISTI to stamp. I then stencilled one anchor to strip of white card & tied through some bakers twine. The sentiment is from Simply Said.

July19intro11a

Unfortunately that is all I have to share with you today, my mojo was exhausted with the recent heat here 🙁

However, my AWESOME Design Team and wonderful Guest Designer this month, Keren Baker have worked their magic with today’s products, so be sure to hop along & see them…

Bev (that’s me)
